I recently had the great pleasure of meeting Jason Backe, Clairol's Color Director, celebrity haircolorist and president/CEO of ted gibson salon. Within minutes of meeting Jason and finding out he was from the Midwest, we were chatting like we had known each other forever.
Jason was in Chicago to talk with media and bloggers about Clairol Perfect 10 Hair Color. He helped develop Perfect 10 and as a Master Colorist, one of his goals was to take the anxiety out of at-home hair coloring. I've never been what I would consider "confident" at using at-home hair color. But seriously, after a couple of hours with Jason, I picked up helpful confidence-boosting tips.
Perfect 10 Haircolor is a three step system formulated without ammonia, so there is no unpleasant smell. The total processing time is 10 minutes, which is great if you don't have alot of time on your hands. Jason recommends setting up your work area ahead of time and then thoroughly reading the instructions first.
The Perfect 10 packaging looks upscale and the bottles are clearly marked. Another pointer that Jason offered was the "two-level rule". Never go more than 2 levels lighter or darker than your current shade of haircolor; use the before and after images on the box as your guide. Jason also suggested that you start the timer when you finished applying hair color on the new growth.
Jason took a video of the process (helpful for when I re-do the color!) and he explains the process as he actually colors my hair, sharing the "tips of the trade" along the way.
After the color was applied (easy!), Devin Toth, Stylist at ted gibson salon, gave me a fabulous haircut and blew out my hair. My new hair color, Medium Golden Brown, is gorgeous. My hair is soft, silky and so shiny! Thanks to Clairol, Jason , Devin and the team for a wonderful day!
