CHANEL is launching a new line of lipstick, hoping to capture the imagination of millions of women that have switched to lip gloss. Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour was created by Peter Philips, CHANEL'S global creative director for makeup, who states, "There's a whole generation of women who have never worn lipstick–they were raised on gloss". His goal for Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour is to provide the "one-swipe" coverage of a gloss without the dabbing and blotting typically required of a lipstick.
The Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour formula is unique; a hybrid of the latest technology in pigments to create radiant colour while retaining comfort and hydration. Each shade of lipstick is named after a part of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel's life. The Chanel-sentimentalist in me loves that. For instance, Camelia, named after the flower that so intrigued Mademoiselle, is a deep rose shade. 31 Cambon, the address of Mlle's lavish Paris apartment, is a classic red lipstick.
Rouge Coco revisits everything that is cool and chic about pulling a lipstick out of your purse. Peter Phillips returned to a metal lipstick case, instead of the plastic that is commonly used. The black case features a wide gold band in the center and the brand's interlocking C's on the top, as well as the inside of the cap.
The texture and feel of CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour is amazing. It has the pigmentation of a lipstick, while retaining the comfortable feeling and long-lasting wear of a lip gloss. And no problem finding a shade that will work for you. Thirty shades in four color families are available. I was sent five lipsticks to preview and my favorite shades are Perle, which is a nude shimmer and Mademoiselle, a creamy, medium rose shade.
CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour retails at $30 and will be available in March at CHANEL counters and at www.chanel.com.
