Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel believed the light-reflecting property of pearls enhanced a woman’s natural beauty by bringing a delicate luminosity to her skin. Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, captures this quality in a radiant Spring 2011 Collection, LES PERLES DE CHANEL.
This collection of pearlized shades of black and white are accented with pinks and corals, brightening the complexion and creating a natural glow. Not to be outshone, nail shades extend the trend.
Highlights of the LES PERLES DE CHANEL Collection include:
OMBRES PERLÉES DE CHANEL Eyeshadow Palette: This palette of five luminous and intense shades flatters eyes in every light with the luster of the finest pearls. The ultra-refined powder formula resists creasing and unique, custom applicators provide precise delivery of colour and seamless blending. Limited-edition, $65.
LE VERNIS NAIL COLOUR: With a nod to Coco Chanel’s love of pearls, Le Vernis shades of Black Pearl and Pearl Drop grace nails for Spring. To compare, the Black Pearl shade is different than the Steel colour from this Fall’s SoHo Collection. Steel is much darker and altough there’s a slight shimmer to Steel, Black Pearl looks like more of a frosted finish. $23.00.
LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES: Two new shades of Glossimer, Aragonite (Iridescent White) and Nakkar (Raspberry), $27.
The CHANEL Spring 2011 Makeup Collection, LES PERLES DE CHANEL, is available in department stores and online at www.chanel.com. While this is a pretty collection for Spring, other than the new 5-colour eyeshadow palette, there isn’t anything that really jumps out as a “must-have” for me. Are you planning on purchasing this collection or passing?
