Dolce&Gabbana welcome spring 2011’s new beginnings with a beautiful makeup collection called The Secret Garden. This collection evokes the fresh colors of a bouquet of spring flowers–lush with pastels and sheer tone-on-tone shades.
“We’ve always been inspired by the lush gardens so unique to Sicily; they’re like secret paradise. The aura of romance – the intoxicating wild flowers, the soft pastels – is such an integral part of our heritage and aesthetic,” says Stefano Gabbana. Indeed, one look at the colors of this collection and you will see this influence.
The Dolce&Gabbana Spring 2011 Secret Garden Collection includes:
The Illuminator in Eva 3 was inspired by Dolce&Gabbana muse Scarlett Johansson. This powder is truly an illuminator in the sense that it gives the face a backlit appearance–without the glitter effect that many others do. $47
Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Eden 157 ($59) – You couldn’t find a prettier eyeshadow palette for spring if you tried! Pink, lilac, turquoise blue and seafoam can be blended and mixed like a bouquet. Think Palm Beach and Lilly Pulitzer colors!
Smooth Eye Colour Duo in Romance 120 ($36) – this new eyeshadow duo is a contrast in rich greys; I love this duo with the Lilac Crayon Intense.
Crayon Intense in White 13 and Lilac 14 ($29) – I found both pencils very versatile; the white definitely opens up the eyes, while the Lilac adds a pop of bright color. Love these!
Shine Lipstick in Romance 95 and Love 136 ($30) – While the focus for spring is on the eyes, the lips are subtle, but pretty in muted mauve Romance and vibrant Love.
Ultra – Shine Lipgloss in Secret 136 and Bon Bon 57 ($29) – If you want the most perfect shade of pink lipgloss, then pick up Bon Bon and look no further!
Nail Lacquer in Platinum 90 ($20) – There aren’t many nail polish shades that make me drop everything and remove the shade I’m wearing, but Platinum made me do just that. This will be my go-to spring neutral nail shade.
The Dolce&Gabbana Secret Garden Collection for Spring 2011 will be available soon at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores and Saks.com.
