Now that I’m back from vacation, it’s time to get this Nutrisystem program started for real. On Saturday, I gathered up all the program information, organized my food supply and got ready to start working on a new me!
Sunday was my first “official” day and like it or not, I had to step on the scale. Whoa! There must be something to “avoidance behavior”, because even though all my clothes still fit me, I was at my heaviest weight – ever. I am so disappointed in myself that I let myself get to this point. I am determined that I will succeed (failure is not an option!) and make this new lifestyle work for me.
What struck me about the first few days on the Nutrisystem plan is that it seems like there is So. Much. Food! I look at my daily planner and wonder how I’m going to get all this stuff worked into my day and still lose weight. I love that there is a Nutrisystem app for my iPhone, which makes tracking the program so much more manageable. And in comparison to Weight Watchers online program, which I did a few years back, it’s alot easier.
I think one of the best aspects of the Nutrisystem program for me, is the pre-portioned, pre-measured food. There is no thinking involved. Each food item is labeled blue for breakfast, green for lunch, red for dinner and pink for a snack. I like not having to think about what to make, what to buy, how much to measure. You do supplement with some of your own groceries, like vegetables, fruit and dairy–but the main components come in your shipment. Not only that, but the food is GOOD! I don’t feel “deprived” at all.
Like everything, there are ups and downs. I travel quite a bit for my job, driving anywhere from 1000 – 1200 miles per week. So fitting in some exercise time is going to be a challenge; same with drinking all of the water. So far, since Sunday, I’ve lost 3 pounds–pretty encouraging for a partial week!
