I received a question from a reader this week wondering about the Nutrisystem program in general, as well as the food. I thought that would be a great topic for this week’s update. Read on for more.
I’m always on a quest to find a diet plan that clicks with me; it’s an individual thing. I’ve done Optifast, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers and countless others. While I would always have initial success, ultimately I’d put back whatever weight I lost. This effort with Nutrisystem really feels different. I feel like I’m much more in control of what I need to do to maintain the weight loss post-program.
A large part of that has to do with the Nutrisystem app that I use daily to enter my food, water, exercise and yes, to look at my calories. At some level, you have to be aware of daily caloric intake to lose weight. Nutrisystem has done the math and figured out the calorie range I need to be in to lose weight. In addition, the support resources, access to dietitions, the website, have also been a big help.
In terms of the food, I have changed many of my old “bad” habits. I’m eating much healthier now; more fruits and vegetables than I ever have. This change will also enable me to be more successful in the long term. And the program food is good. Sure, there are meals that I’ve found that I don’t care for–I just don’t reorder them. But there is a good variety so that I don’t get bored.
This week has been a little frustrating for me, because even though I’m sticking to the plan and getting my water and exercise in, the scale hasn’t moved. I understand this–sometimes your body needs to catch up. I held steady this week, maintaining my total weight loss to date of 36 lbs.
