Mara Hoffman had one of the most colorful collections to hit the Spring/Summer 2012 runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Brightly colored prints suggested a Mexican or Aztec influence best described as “tribal chic”. Read on for more….
Makeup was by MAKE UP FOR EVER and was designed to channel “strong powerful women”. The look featured strong brows, a contoured face with a beautiful glow and eyes with variations of brown shadow accented with messy, greasy black liner. Lips were a pinky-nude shade. The skin was described as “dewy”, a nice change from the matte finish we had been seeing.
Hair was by the TIGI Creative Team and was pulled into an elaborate braided bun. Prior to the show, different patterns of authentic Mara Hoffman fabric had been braided into false crimped hair. The stylists then weaved the false braids over the top of the head to create an exaggerated braided, top knot. It was a beautiful effect.
Nails were by Pattie Yankee for Dashing Diva. She worked with designer Mara Hoffman to create a clean/subtle look that would complement the intricate patterns and designs of the Spring collection. Pattie used Dashing Diva’s Chelsea in the Buff polish on a natural shaped, short nail and The Red Carpet, a fiery bright red shade for one standout model.
The total look was striking; what do you think of it? Let me know in the comments!
