Are you frustrated with areas of sun damage, uneven skin tone or dark spots resulting from acne scarring on your skin?  Kiehl’s has just come out with Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution–and it’s “clearly” different than other brightening serums.

The first thing that caught my eye when I opened up Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions® Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution was that…it was clear!  Since this solution is formulated with “Activated C” (a Vitamin C derivitive), there is no oxidation, thus it doesn’t need to be housed in a brown bottle.  Kiehl’s is the first company to bring this technology to the U.S., so there is nothing else like it available.

The “Activated C” in Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution different in other ways, too.  It’s photo-stable, is immediately active on contact and has a small molecular size, meaning that the ingredients get into the skin to start working right away.  Also, Activated C slows down the production and transfer of melanin (an excess of melanin is what causes skin discoloration), and is proven to have an anti-cluster effect on existing spots and imperfections, breaking them apart before they form, a key point of difference from other clarifying products.

So…key differences from other “brightening” products out there.  What did I find when I tested it?  First, it works quite fast.  I’ve been using Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution for about 3 weeks and I feel like I’ve seen a lightening of my sunspots.  I’ve seen no areas of irritation or sensitivity since I’ve been using it. I really like that this product can be used twice a day (after cleansing) and that it can be used year around. In the past, I’ve stopped using other lightening products I’ve used in the summer, due to increased sensitivity to the sun (like Retin A plus Hydroquinone). And don’t forget to wear your sunscreen daily!

Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions® Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution retails at $49.50 for a 1.0 oz. bottle and is available at Nordstrom, Kiehl’s counters and online at Kiehls.com.
