It’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and I’ve been in New York behind the scenes, bringing you the best in beauty and style for the upcoming Fall season. One of my very favorite shows to attend is Lela Rose, where the look is always on point. Here’s the breakdown…
The fashions at Lela Rose were inspired by Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava and reflected strong shapes and earthy colors. Prior to applying makeup, ARCONA skincare was used to prep the skin to give it a fresh, youthful appearance. ARCONA Triad Pads were used first, then Magic White Ice was applied to nourish and balance. Eye Dew was applied as a final step around the orbital bone to give the eye area a glossy, sheer look and to help brighten.
Makeup was by Tina Turnbow with Stila Cosmetics for Beauty.com. The inspiration was “Victorian Beauty” with a very pale, natural complexion and mahogany red lip. There was no primer applied, Perfect + Correct Foundation with Perfecting Concealer and All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer were applied to face. Puppy Eye Shadow was used on the eyes with Forever Your Curl Mascara; brows were light and touched up with Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Brow Color. Lips were the focal point, with Long Wear Lip Color in Phenomenal used for a strong look.
Hair by Ted Gibson of the Ted Gibson Salon was stunning. The look was a “modified Gibson Girl”, very architectural. Ted says, “We’ve created something that I think is really something that a girl can do at home. It’s kind of like the new answer to the braid. The twist is the new braid.” Hair was blow dried using Ted Gibson Build It, then back-combed, pulled over and smoothed into a pony tail. A clear elastic was placed in the hair, which was then tucked around fingers and rolled upward. Hairpins were placed so that they were visible. The hair was slightly pulled out to accentuate the shape and finished with Ted Gibson Beautiful Hold Hair Spray.
Nails were kept neutral to as not to compete with the clothes (this was a big trend that I saw at many shows this season). Manicures were done by Ana-Maria for Essie, using Essie Case Study, finished with Good to Go Rapid Dry Topcoat to finish.
