There were plenty of hits and misses at last night’s Academy Awards, but I thought Rose Byrne was one of the standouts. She accessorized her Vivienne Westwood dress with a sleek bob style and a smoky eye. We’ve got the details on her hair and makeup:
Rose Byrne’s stylist, John Frieda International Creative Consultant Harry Josh, wanted to keep the hair simple, clean and chic. “We wanted it to be all about shine and a high-gloss finish,” says Josh.
According to Harry, it’s all about product. With a look like this you need the right base to achieve the high-gloss finish. On wet hair, Harry applied the new John Frieda Full Repair Style Revival. This heat activated spray not only protects hair from damage caused by heat tools, but also helps to ensure the final look is sleek and straight, without weighing hair down.
After blow drying hair with a round brush, Harry flat ironed Rose’s hair section by section in order to lock in shine and keep her strands sleek and straight. Harry stayed south of her roots to ensure she had a little volume and then gave her a side part.
To ensure no hair was out of place, Harry touched up stray strands with the John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer. By simply swiping the mascara-like wand over her bangs and her crown, Harry gave her a red-carpet ready, perfectly shiny finish. Loved it!
Makeup was done by Maude Laceppee for NARS, who was inspired by Rose’s dress. “Her dress is like a piece of jewelry so we wanted glamorous and sexy but minimal at the same time. It’s really elegant and modern. We wanted the skin to look transparent but radiant and the new tinted moisturizer produces that effect.”
On the face, Maude applied new NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer and Cle de Peau concealer. For her blush, NARS Gaiety, a bright pink from the Spring Collection was used. On eyes, Lhasa eyeshadow was applied to the lid, with Coconut Grove eyeshadow blended onto the outer corners. Lips were finished with Bilbao lipstick, a shimmering topaz shade and then the Copacabana Multiple was patted all over eyes cheeks and lips for an icy sheen.
