You’ve probably heard and read about the latest skin care fascination–“BB creams”.  BB creams (the “BB” stands for beauty balms or blemish balm) have been popular in Asia and are just starting to take off here.  In terms of price, you can spend as little or as much as your budget allows.  Read on for the 411 on 7 popular BB Creams….

Brand new from Clinique, Age Defense BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 does it all.  It goes on like a lightweight tinted moisturizer, blends well and has skincare ingredients including antioxidants. This BB Cream hides skin flaws, is good for all skin types, comes in 4 shades and is unscented. Available in department stores and Clinique.com,$38.

The Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 is another favorite.  The Smashbox BB Cream acts as a primer, evens out skin tone, hydrates and controls shine.  I like that it has a nice, lightweight feel to it, retexturizes skin and contains pigments that really optimize skin tone and finish. Comes in 8 shades and has an SPF 35. Available at Sephora.com, $39.

Estee Lauder DayWear Anti-Oxidant BB Creme definitely gets my vote for the nicest fragrance. Similar to DayWear moisturizer, you can detect notes of cucumber and delicate floral. This formula moisturizes and hydrates, protects skin with an SPF 35, evens out skin tone, has light-reflecting particles and can be worn under a foundation as a primer. Love this is as daily sunscreen! Comes in 4 shades, $40.

Diorsnow BB Creme is formulated with Icelandic Glacial Water, has an SPF 50, comes in two shades and helps to brighten the skin to reduce dark spots and imperfections.  On me, this creme felt a little heavier than others, most likely due to the higher SPF, which I appreciate. It’s like wearing a foundation with skincare benefits and a high SPF. $55

Dr. Jart+ BB Beauty Balm fuses serious skin care with makeup.  In addition to moisturizers to hydrate skin, there is a Bio-Peptide Complex for anti-aging benefits, Arbutin for brightening and Adenosine for firming skin.  Dr. Jart+ BB Beauty Balm has a high SPF, so you do need to work it into skin (similar to Dior). Despite limited shade selection, this is one of my top picks; available at Sephora, $39.

3LAB Perfect BB SPF 40, in my opinion, is the most elegant of all the BB Creams I tested.  Formulated with with 3LAB’s signature bio-engineered growth hormone and apple stem cell technology, this BB Cream calms and protects skin, moisturizes, evens out skin tone, brightens skin over time and offers anti-aging skincare benefits.  I also love that this one comes with a little roller, for perfect application and it really feels great on skin.  Available at Nordstrom and select department stores, and at 3Lab.com, $100.

Omorovicza BB SPF 20 is the only BB Cream that works as a moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, concealer, and anti-aging cream in a formula that doesn’t contain silicones. That means if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, this BB Cream might be a good choice for you. Formulated with Hungarian Healing Water, Hyaluronic Acid to firm and plump skin, Vitamin C and antioxidants, this BB cream is definitely luxurious. Available in department stores including Sephora, Nordstrom and select Neiman Marcus, $135.

And don’t forget, I’ve already tried and reviewed the Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector (review) this one proves that a good BB Cream doesn’t have to break the bank!

Have you tried a BB Cream yet or do you plan to?  Let me know in the comments!
