Vacations are a blessing and a curse when you’re dieting.  I used our recent vacation to “test the waters”; how would I do on a less-structured Nutrisystem plan?  My intent was to stay on track for breakfast and lunch, while eating a sensible dinner.  Read on to find out how I did….

I had planned to stay on plan as best I could during my vacation–after all, I had just hit the 80+ lbs. lost milestone and didn’t want to lose my momentum.  It wasn’t like I went crazy, but it didn’t take long to catch myself “relaxing” the goals I had set for myself.  A little taste of chocolate here, a spoonful of my husband’s ice cream there…when I got home and stepped on the scale, I was up 2.5 lbs.

But if Nutrisystem has taught me anything, it’s that I can get right back on the program — that’s really key for me.  After getting home and seeing the scale, I went back on my eating plan, back to Zumba and my other fitness classes and as of today, am only up .4 from where I was pre-vacation.  Which makes my total weight loss on Nutrisystem right at 80 lbs., as of today.

The important thing for me isn’t the numbers. It’s that my week of vacation was a snapshot in time. I enjoyed my time away, I enjoyed my non-Nutrisystem meals for the time I was gone.  Then I came home, re-focused, got back on my Nutrisystem plan and back exercising. The fact that I was disciplined to do that really shows me that I have made progress.
