Throughout my life, it’s always been a dress-up kind of Monday through Friday, with a very laid back vibe on the weekends. The new MAC Casual Colour Collection is all about that same kind of relaxed attitude.  It’s a beautiful collection…read on for my thoughts.

The Limited-Edition MAC Casual Colour Collection is what I would call “effortless makeup”.  You can put on a quick face and go with Mineralize Skinfinish, Prep + Prime Highlighter, all-in-one Lip and Cheek Colour Pots, Nail Lacquer and Studio Fix Mascara.  The colors in this collection are neutral and so pretty.  In fact, if you’re typically not a MAC wearer because you find the colors too intense, Casual Colour is inviting you to try!

The new products in this collection are the Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colours.  I tried three shades:  Keep It Loose, Relaxation and Keep It Casual.  For coverage on my skin tone, Keep It Casual, the darkest of the shades I tried, actually looked the best as a blush.  In terms of wear, when you first apply Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour, there is definitely a slip to it and it takes a few seconds to dry down.  Once applied, the color stays on.  I’d recommend applying over a primer for best results.  On the lips, the Lip & Cheek Colours actually felt a little dry. I added a lip balm over the top.

In terms of pigmentation, all of the shades I tested needed a couple of applications to build the color to a point where it showed up on me–even Keep It Casual.  However, once I built the color to the level I wanted, the color stayed true and lasted through the day.

Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colours ($20) are available in the following shades:

  • Have A Lovely Day! – Neutral nude (creme)
  • Lazy Sunday – Baby pink (creme)
  • Weekend Getaway – Cool rose (creme)
  • Relaxation – Warm pink (creme)
  • Keep It Loose – Warm peach (creme)
  • Keep It Casual – Warm wine (creme)
  • Evening Stroll – Violet cream (creme)
  • Out for Fun Cool coral (creme)

The MAC Casual Colour Collection is in department stores and online through mid-July.  Do you see colours you’d be interested in trying?  Let me know in the comments!
