The SimplyVera Vera Wang Cosmetics Collection has launched at Kohl’s; have you seen it?  The Collection consists of sixteen products in 74 shades (there are also spa/body products in the line, also)–it’s an ambitious offering. I had an opportunity to try the products out.  Read on for my thoughts…

I’ve been particularly interested to see the SimplyVera Vera Wang Cosmetics Collection.  The collection features an edited collection of products inspired by Vera’s take on beauty–effortless and timeless with a touch of whimsy and refinement. The products are elegantly packaged in sleek black cases and signature blue boxes, which ties in to the hang tags that you see on the Kohl’s fashion collection.

Some of my favorite products in the SimplyVera Vera Wang Cosmetics Collection include:

Skin Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer ($39.50).  I tested shade 102, a fairly light color that turned out to be a good match for my skin.  The formula has good pigmentation and has Sodium Hyaluronate in it to lock in skin’s moisture.  It’s easily blendable, thanks to Jojoba Oil.  I really like the finish, which is illuminating and provides a sheer, buildable coverage.  There is no sunscreen in the formula, so you would need to add that as an extra step.

I was really impressed with the Illuminating Concealer ($19.50).  The formula blends well and does a great job of not only hiding imperfections and covering age spots; you can also use as a brightener to accent and hide shadows. The click-pen applicator allows precise application of the concealer.  I tried shade 202 (light-medium) and found the Illuminating Concealer very good on dark circles.  I would buy this product again.

There are 14 shades of Transforming Shadow Duos ($19.50), many neutral and elegant colors and a few more fashion-forward shades.  The eyeshadow is incredibly silky and crease-resistant. I didn’t find the shades I tested to give a big color payoff; even the darker Duo (414, which I would call a smoky eye duo). You have to build the color to get coverage. For that reason, I would recommend using a primer first, to really lock in the color. The Transforming Shadow Duos do come in very pretty color combinations and if you’re looking for work-friendly shades, are worth checking out.

The Smoothing Lip Color ($18.50) provides the finishing touch to your makeup look. I’m always concerned about how a lip color feels on the lips and am pleased to report that this one feels great!  Smoothing Lip Color provides long wear while feeling light and silky on the lips.  The formula includes Antioxidants, Vitamin E and Shea Butter to condition and moisturize.  Love this lip color in the 707 shade and would definitely buy again.

The Illuminating Pressed Powder ($32.50) offers something a little different: four shades of coordinated pressed powder that blend together in harmony for a radiant complexion.  I tried the 303 shade, which was a little too dark for me, but could be used as a bronzer or to contour. On the skin, I didn’t find that the product settled into fine lines or was cakey. I liked the natural finish.

The SimplyVera Vera Wang Cosmetics Collection is available exclusively in Kohl’s Department Stores and at Kohls.com.  Have you seen this line yet or tried it?  Let me know in the comments!
