Having the right brush is essential for achieving the most flawless makeup application. In this week’s Makeup Wars Challenge, we’re dishing on our favorite makeup brush. Although I have a ton of makeup brushes, my favorite is easily the NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush. Read on for more…
Whether in makeup or in makeup tools, versatility is important and the NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush is all that and more. When I was in New York this spring for Fashion Week, Cindy, one of the NARS Senior Makeup Artists, showed me how to use this brush and I’ve never looked back.
The Yachiyo Kabuki Brush is made of goat hair and picks up just the right amount of color and deposits it on your cheeks in the most natural looking way. I’ve found it invaluable for using with really bright blush shades, where other blush brushes seem to load up too much color and then give you the “clown face”. Not a good look.
In addition to applying blush, the Yachiyo Kabuki Brush can be used to contour cheeks, a highlighting brush or even as a larger blender brush on the outer portion of the eyelid. The cool wrapped handle adds to it’s charm. Not a day goes by that I don’t reach for it.
The NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush ($50) is available at NARS retailers and online at Nordstrom.com and NARSCosmetics.com

I love the look of these NARS brushes… they intimidate me, though!
Looks like a great brush, however I’m not a fan of the goat hair!
I find mine a little scratchy but there’s still nothing like it for cream blush.
@Marcia The only thing I haven’t used this brush for is cream blush! I need to try that out! Thanks for the suggestion!
@Brooke I probably would not have tried this one out had I not been at the NARS Boutique and had Cindy show me. Once she did, I was hooked!
Cindy also used this brush on me for probably three different things. I don’t know why I didn’t buy it at the time, becasue it seems amazing. I will most definitely buy it next time I am at the boutique (or see it at Sephora!)
What a cool looking brush! Have never tried NARS brushes.
I’e always wanted to try one of these!
I wish I had paid more attention when they were doing your makeup, N! I love to use mine, but I am certain Cindy would have taught me a much lighter touch.
What an unique looking brush! Love it!
