Makeup Wars Challenge: Most expensive face!

by Beauty411 on August 6, 2012

The Makeup Wars gals are back at it with a new challenge.  Last time we created a budget makeup look of $20 or less, so this time we flipped it and were challenged to create a look using our most expensive beauty products.  Read on to see what I used…

Skin care is my passion, so using the latest and most cutting-edge is always top of mind.  I am only including one skin care product that I’m currently testing. The Orlane Anti-Aging Oxygenation System focuses on encouraging DNA repair by acting on the Sirtuin protein of skin cells.  It’s a 28-day treatment that is applied before your usual skin care, morning and evening. The system retails at $550 and is available at Neiman Marcus.

Now onto the makeup. To prepare the face, a good primer is essential and I like Dior Skinflash Primer ($42), which adds radiance and is so easy to apply with the brush applicator.  The primer I like for eyes is the NARS ProPrime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($24).

Most makeup artists will tell you that you need to use an airbrush foundation to get the most flawless foundation, but I don’t have the time or patience to do that on a daily basis. So for this challenge, I selected the SK-II Air Touch Foundation ($165) and the Dior Diorskin Nude Concealer in 002 ($30) and YSL Touche Eclat #2 ($40).

For color, I used the following products (note: some products may be discontinued or special edition):

  • Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope Eye Kit in Silk Road, $95
  • CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Cassis, $30
  • Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara, Black, $30
  • Tom Ford Blush in Love Lust, $55
  • Guerlain Meteorites Perles D’Or, $56
  • MAKE UP FOR EVER Lip Line Perfector (Clear), $18
  • Guerlain Le Rouge G Lipstick in 11 Grace, $48
  • Dior Diorshow Brow Styler in 001 Universal Brown, $29
  • Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, $21

The total cost of my “fantasy face” adds up to a cool $1233.  Did I meet the challenge? Let me know in the comments!

Make sure to check out these Makeup Wars Challengers!

Disclosure: The majority of these products are ones that I purchased myself; some were received from PR for review and testing.

I love it! I’m dying to own a Tom Ford blush. Mostly because he’s gorgeous, and I feel like his makeup will make me gorgeous too lol

Aww. I would have loved to see a Face Of The Day all made up with your special products! I have always been interested in the SK-II Air Touch Foundation but I think my skin is too oily for it to work well on me.

Thanks! Even though I’CE been blogging for years, I’m still self-conscious about #fotd pics! Working on getting over it!

I know! The Tom Ford products are exceptional!

If you get a TF Blush, they’re really “soft” & finely milled. Need to be careful w/the brush. Unfortunately, I think I wrecked mine by using a Trish McEvoy fan brush, which I *thought* was soft enough, but not so much. :/

Great choices! I really need to invest in some Tom Ford. And OMG! That Orlane system. I need that, but $550? Holy cow!

Every Makeup War I read reminds me that I forgot things like a primer. Since it’s summer I don’t always use them. We need a winter one.

Your table looks so neat! Nothing I own is neat.

I’m intrigued by the Orlane too! I included Guerlain Meteorites as well. That is one of my all time favorite products!!!

Great post! I’m look forward to reading what you think of the Orlane Anti-Aging Oxygenation System.

I agree with Brooke! I want a Tom Ford blush ONLY because it is Tom Ford. I could care less if it is any good.

Oh my gosh that is the most expensive foundation I have ever seen! Would you please consider doing a review of it sometime?
