As far as I’m concerned, one of my essential can’t-live-without products are makeup removing wipes. I try and test them all! Today I’m dishing on the latest must-have makeup-removing wipes…read on for more…

Let’s start out by saying that it’s not that I’m a hater of the conventional makeup removing solutions. In fact, there are instances you absolutely need a makeup remover in a bottle. Like when you have a particularly stubborn mascara (or lipstick!). But you just can’t beat a wipe for convenience.  They’re also a great way to pre-cleanse  or refesh your face. When using a wipe, you want to make sure to cleanse afterward, because even as good as the wipes are at removing makeup, they can sometimes leave behind a residue that could clog pores or cause irritation.

That said, not every makeup-removing wipe is created equal.  Here are 5 brands that I’ve been testing and my thoughts on each.

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Makeup Removing Wipes: I received a package of these wipes as a “Klout Perk” and I’m so glad I did! These wipes are especially good if you have sensitive skin, because they contain Feverfew, a calming ingredient that Aveeno uses as part of their Active Naturals line. I find this wipe to be very effective at thoroughly removing makeup, even heavy waterproof mascara.  This wipe was the best saturated of all that I tested and if you’d like the opportunity to win a package, check out my Aveeno Giveaway! Price:  $7.99 for 25 wipes.

Neutrogena has 4 different makeup removing towelettes, each serving a different need. There’s the original Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes (blue pkg. or dispenser), Night Calming (purple pkg.), Hydrating (teal pkg.) and Deep Clean Oil-Free Makeup Remover Cleansing Wipes. Of the three formulas I tried, the Night Calming is my favorite.  I love the light lavender fragrance and find these wipes to be effective at removing makeup. They’re non-irritating and did a good job of removing makeup. I’ve purchased the original Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes many times; I like these a bit better.  Price: $6.99 for 25 towelettes.

Say Yes To…has 3 different towelette formulas. Say Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes (good for sensitive skin), Say Yes to Blueberries Brightening Facial Towelettes and Say Yes to Tomatoes Blemish Clearing Towelettes. Of the three, Say Yes to Blueberries towelettes are my favorite, mainly because  ‘Blueberries’ is the anti-aging range. The towelettes have a light, fruity fragrance and very thoroughly remove all traces of makeup and grime. As to the brightening effect, I can’t say I noticed any difference in my skin tone, but the antioxidants in the formula are certainly a benefit. Price: $7.99 for 30 towelettes.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes have no dyes, artificial perfumes or harsh irritants that can upset skin. I think because of that, these weren’t quite as soft and saturated as some of the others. They were effective at removing makeup, even waterproof mascara. If you have sensitivities or are allergic to fragrance or dyes, Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes are one of the few wipes that are fragrance-free, plus include vitamins in the formula. I received these as a Klout Perk. Price:  $4.99 for 25 wipes.

And worth mentioning again is my review of Pond’s Wet Cleansing Towelettes. Pond’s Towelettes are among my absolute favorites–I’ve bought and re-bought these wipes! They’re very saturated, don’t dry out and do a great job of removing makeup. Do you have a favorite makeup removing wipe? Share it with me in the comments!
