Michelle Dockery at the “19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards”

Michelle Dockery dazzled on the red carpet for the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. She wore a vintage Chado Ralph Rucci gown, Bulgari jewelry, and an elegant hair look created by celebrity stylist Mara Roszak for Moroccanoil. She was my favorite look of the night! Read on for the details…

“Michelle’s stunning black gown had a striking, modern elegance with a bit of edge,” explained Roszak. “As a result, we went for a stronger and more structured look, keeping it feminine and flowing. Her hair is actually perfect. Thick, gorgeous and with a slight wave that you can enhance or smooth out. This time, I wanted to keep the wave loose and subtle, with extra shine and polish.”

Here’s how Mara created the look:

“I parted her wet hair to the side then applied Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse. It’s lightweight, holds nicely, and helps seal in moisture and prevent frizz. I didn’t want to take away Michelle’s natural wave completely, only to smooth out her texture while keeping its natural body and movement.

“I used a 1 1/4” marcel curling iron and loosely wrapped random vertical sections throughout the hair, starting mid-length to ends.

“After letting them sit for a few seconds, I brushed the hair lightly, then shaped the waves on one side, creating a soft bend at the ends of the hair.  I sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray on my fingers and scrunched the ends a bit so they had a slightly more lived in texture.

“I smoothed the other side back for a sleek, tucked under look, and sprayed the entire style with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium.

To finish, I lightly misted hair with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray to add extra shine.

Michelle’s makeup was flawless and done by Celebrity Makeup Artist Jordan Long.  To get the look:

INSPIRATION: We wanted to do something modern and architectural with a nod to classic Hollywood glamour.

SKINCARE: CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum and Le Blanc de Chanel Illuminating Base.

FOUNDATION: I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra‐Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and applied it with the foundation brush. Michelle loves skin, and because her skin is flawless I only have to use a little amount. I then used a tiny bit of CHANEL Correcteur Perfection Long-Lasting Concealer under the eyes and around the nose.

BLUSH:For Michelle’s cheeks, I lightly dusted CHANEL Powder Blush in Frivole, keeping it concentrated at the apples. I then finished with Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder to highlight her cheekbones, and a bit down her nose and above the bow of her lip to give her that extra radiance!

EYES: We were really set on doing a smoky eye this time, but we decided to give it a twist by using the gorgeous deep green in CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Lilium. With a domed eyeshadow brush, I applied the green shade all across her lid and blended it up. I also smudged it underneath the lower lashes. I then took the black matte shadow in CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Gris Subtil and intensified the smoke on the outer corners. To add a little sparkle right at the lashline, I smudged a bit of CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Illusoire. I finished with three coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir on the upper and lower lashes.

LIPS: We smudged the gorgeous CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in L’Exquise and used it almost like a stain, with no liner.
