Last week I posted some of my favorite winter skin savers for your face–now it’s time to double down and take care of your body! Here are the body moisturizers that are keeping my skin happy this winter.  Read on for more…

Believe it or not, I had never used Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion even though it’s been recommended by dermatologists for years. This lightweight moisturizer is non-greasy and helps to restore skin’s natural protective barrier. It’s fragrance-free and perfect for someone with skin sensitivities. I like that it keeps my skin hydrated all day; very effective.

Vaseline Intensive Rescue Soothing Moisture Body Lotion is a new product from a brand I’ve trusted for years. This lotion is infused with natural chamomile and is formulated to relieve dry or very dry skin by instantly boosting moisture levels by 300%. What I like is that your skin stays hydrated for 24 hours. Vaseline Intensive Rescue Soothing Moisture Body Lotion is lightly scented and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling in your skin. The 10 fl. oz. bottle retails at $4.49 at Drugstore.com.

ARCONA Pumpkin Lotion – This pure and natural body lotion is infused with pumpkin extracts and glycolic acid to help keep skin exfoliated and feeling smooth. I’ve been using the 10% glycolic strength without any irritation or sensitivity. I love the ARCONA line because the products are natural and effective. This pumpkin-scented body lotion can be used year around to keep skin looking and feeling it’s best. At Nordstrom, $35

AVEENO Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream – Developed with leading dermatologists and formulated with Colloidal Oatmeal, this cream helps relieve irritated skin and intensely moisturizes to help strengthen the skin’s natural barrier function.  It also helps to prevent the recurrence of extra dry skin. For someone who has dry, itchy, winter skin, Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream is a great choice. Also available is the AVEENO Eczema Complete Care Kit, which includes the Eczema Therapy Bath Treatment.

L’Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream in Mango Flower – Formulated with 25% Shea Butter, this is one of the most nourishing moisturizers I tested. I especially love applying this thick, rich cream to my legs and elbows. Plus, the Mango Flower scent makes me think of spring; it’s citrusy and floral. Available in a Hand Cream, too. Love this! At LOccitane.com.

Avalon Organics ALOE Unscented Moisturizing Cream Shave – This time of year you definitely want to make sure that you’re using a shaving cream to give your skin extra protection. I’ve been using this one from Avalon Organics and really like it. It has Aloe Vera Extract, Beta-Glucan and plant extracts to replenish moisture and allow for a smooth, close shave and prevent nicks and irritation. $8.50

Beyond moisturizing, there are a few tips that will help keep your skin comfortable in the drier, winter air.  First, use a humidifier to add moisture back into the air. I’ve added a humidifier to our bedroom in addition to the one on the furnace, and it’s made a huge difference. Also, as great as it feels, winter isn’t the time to take long, hot showers. Instead, use a lukewarm water temperature and limit your time. Apply your moisturizer when you get out of the shower, while skin is still slightly damp.
