Summer makeup can be a tricky thing. It’s the time of year when the goal is ‘effortless beauty’. You want maximum beauty with minimum time. And you don’t want to look like you’re wearing alot of makeup…it needs to look natural. A pretty tall order, no? Check out some of the new products that can help!
MAC’s new Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation is lightweight and infused with mineral technology that keeps skin hydrated. It’s perfect for any skin, but dry skins will love this one. Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation also contains powders that have optical blurring properties, so it’s a great choice for more mature skins, too. $33.00.
From Bobbi Brown, new Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 offers medium to full coverage and does that with a natural finish. I love this foundation…and especially love the fact that it lasts all day without feeling like you’re wearing a face full of makeup! This long-wearing foundation is able to withstand summer heat and humidity, hydrate skin, absorb oil and controlshine….a real multi-tasker! Available in 20 shades, $47.
From Purely Cosmetics, Skin Smoothing Mineral Makeup is perfect for summer. This formula absorbs excess oil, controls shine, nourishes skin and does that without drying out skin or settling into fine lines. I tried the California Blonde shade, which is perfect for someone with light skin. This formula is bismuth-free and works best for dry to slightly oily skins; it worked fine on my combination skin. $19.99.
Dolce&Gabbana has just released Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation and Perfect Matte Concealer. I love wearing matte finishes in the summer to help ward off against the inevitable shine. The texture of this foundation is lightweight, yet coverage is what I’d call flawless medium to full. Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation ($66) also has SPF 20 and comes in 15 shades. The Perfect Matte Concealer ($40) is an excellent companion purchase. It’s silky, easy to blend, gives full coverage and comes in 6 shades.
IT Cosmetics IT-O2 Oxygen Liquid Foundation has amazing skin care ingredients in the formula. Peptides provide anti-aging benefits, hyaluronic acid for hydration, hydrolyzed collagen and niacinamide, which helps keep pigmentation issues at bay. To help keep skin glowing, IT has included optical diffusers (“Drops of Light” reflective pigments). The foundation feels great on the skin and provides all-day, buildable coverage. $40
An essential product, regardless of the season, is a primer. I’m in love with new NARS Light Optimizing Primer Broad Spectrum SPF15. This primer feels like a skin care product–and it should. It has NARS’ exclusive Light Reflecting Complex with red algae extract to awaken and revitalize skin. Plus Vitamins A, C and E help ward off free radical damage. Appropriate for all skin types–this is my new favorite. $34
Another product you need to know about is an inexpensive one at that. From L’Oreal Paris, the True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer has good coverage in a formula that isn’t heavy or cakey. What I like is the pencil shape that’s able to get in those areas that need help, like the inner eye area. Available in 9 shades; I’ve been using the N4-5, which is a neutral medium shade.
Beautiful summer complexion? We’ve got this!
