Claire Danes definitely gets my vote as one of the best dressed at last night’s Emmy Awards! She was dazzling in her Armani Privé gown, set off with over a million dollars of sparkling Neil Lane jewels. We’ve got the 411 on her hair and makeup look. so that you can recreate it at home.
Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler was the visionary behind Claire Dane’s statement-making look. Using John Frieda Hair Care, Peter gave the actress a short faux bob that helped to elongate her neck. Here’s how to recreate her classic and sophisticated look:
Step 1 – Prep: Peter applied a few pumps of the Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Formula Hair Serum through Claire’s wet hair and then added Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse before blow-drying to give the hair more texture for better workability and hold.
Step 2 – Style: Next, Peter gave Claire a low side part and used a large-barreled curling iron to curl the Homeland star’s hair inward, which Peter noted also helped to smooth out her hair’s texture. Peter then created two small pin curls at the nape of Claire’s neck and combed the top of her hair down and under, pinning as needed into the base.
Step 3 – Perfect: Peter finished off the look by tucking the hair on the left side of Claire’s head behind her ear and spritzing Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray for hold. To ensure that Claire’s bob glistened under all the lights on the red carpet, Peter also applied a sheer coat of John Frieda Frizz-Ease 100% Shine.
Makeup artist Matin Maulawizada created a “light, beautiful makeup look” for Claire Danes using Laura Mercier Cosmetics. Matin was inspired by the star’s ethereal Armani Privé gown, which he stated “shimmered otherworldly.”
FACE: Flawless, matte skin with illuminated cheeks. Matin started by prepping the Claire’s under-eye area using Laura Mercier Repair Eye Serum, followed by Foundation Primer, to create an even canvas for makeup application. Next, he applied Laura Mercier Oil Free Suprême Foundation in Golden Beige and Smooth Finish Foundation Powder along her jawline.
Matin created a natural flush of colour by applying Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Sunrise to the cheeks, followed by Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colours in Sterling and Sugar Frost applied to the cheekbones for an illuminated glow. To ensure makeup stayed in place all night, he set the look with Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder in Translucent.
EYES: The look for the eyes was one of subtle shimmer. To start, Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony and Crème Eye Liner in Noir to the lashline. Next, he blended Caviar Stick Eye Colours in Sterling and Sugar Frost and applied them all over the eyelids, up to the brows. He finished the created the eyes by applying Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara.
LIPS: Matin created the dramatic lip using Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Mod. This was my favorite lip of the night—bold and beautiful!
SKIN: Finally, to give Claire’s skin that glowing finish all over, Matin used Leonor Greyl’s Huile Secret de Beauté on her arms for a beautiful effect.
