I confess that when I first heard about the M·A·C Antonio Lopez Collection, I went “who?!?” I didn’t get the reference until I saw the collection in person. Antonio Lopez was a fashion illustrator, who’s vibrant energy, brazen attitude and love of life serves as the inspiration for the new M·A·C collection bearing his name. Read on for more…
The M·A·C Antonio Lopez Collection illustrates what M·A·C does best, in my opinion. Pairing up brilliant packaging with color-coordinated palettes for eyes, lips and face. If you’re not great at putting colors together, a palette is the way to go. Each palette in the collection displays the face of one of “Antonio’s Girls,” — his muses, while each product’s packaging features a drawing by the artist, making these palettes objets d’art to be treasured. In a word? Cool!

I was sent samples of the M∙A∙C ANTONIO LOPEZ Collection to preview and this is really a beautiful collection. The color pairings are executed well; these are very wearable colors. For example, the 3 LIPS/RED palette ($27.50 each) would be a great buy if you love red lipstick; you can mix the shades to come up with the perfect red. It’s also great for tucking into a handbag. I’m planning to pick up the 3 LIPS/NUDE palette for my sister for a gift (and maybe for me). Love that one!
I also have been playing with the 6 EYES/TEAL palette ($43.50 each) and while at first I thought the colors would never work–I have blue eyes and that’s one of the first discoveries you make–is not to wear blue on blue. But after coming back from Fashion Week, I’ve reconsidered and will definitely not be intimidated by the two brightest shades in the compact (Colourful Life and Freshwater). I think if you added Smolder liner or Pearlglide in Petrol, you could get a gorgeous smoky eye out of this palette.
The M∙A∙C ANTONIO LOPEZ FACE Palettes ($46.00 each) are both stars in my world. What I love about these is that you get a blush, an illuminating powder and when you slide the top portion over, underneath you get a bronzer. The pigmentation on the blush pan in both palettes is very good, I would say it was fairly good on the bronzer. The Coral definitely is warmer and the Pink definitely cool, so choose according to your skin tone.
The M∙A∙C ANTONIO LOPEZ Collection is available now at M∙A∙C counters and online retailers, including Nordstrom. Do you see any must-haves for your collection? Let me know in the comments!
