COVERGIRL has updated their truBlend Collection to reflect the diversity of women everywhere and has added new products and shades to the lineup. And once we’ve found the perfect shade of foundation, the truMAGIC Collection allows us to take it to the next level of gorgeous!

I like when a line offers a foundation with matching products like concealers, finishing powders, blushes or bronzers, etc. It really makes it easy to coordinate your look and you know you’re not going to make a mistake. That’s exactly what COVERGIRL has done with the new truBlend Collection. They’ve reorganized and revamped it and have done an impressive job.

The 21 truBLEND foundation ($8.49-$9.99) shades are divided into Light, Medium and Dark, with 7 shades in each range. I like that the foundation is water-based, so it won’t clog pores, is blendable and looks really natural on. I also appreciate the pump bottle, which you don’t always see in a drugstore foundation (sometimes not even in department store!). The shade number is big and bold on the front of the bottle.

It took me a couple of tries to get the right match for my skin. Not surprising–I’m very difficult to match. I’m that rare shade that lies in the neutral zone; sometimes warm, sometimes cool, sometimes light, sometimes medium. After trying both l7 (warm beige) and m4 (sand beige), when on my skin, m4 looked best. In terms of coverage, I consider truBLEND a medium coverage, with good pigmentation.

COVERGIRL truFIX Concealer-grp

There are 6 truBLEND FixStick Concealers (2 light, 2 medium and 2 dark) that coordinate with the foundation. The colors really do work well with the foundations and are blendable, have good pigmentation and not drying or cakey.

COVERGIRL truMAGIC luminizer

In addition to the new foundations, COVERGIRL has introduced truMagic; a collection of 3 perfecting balms ($8.99-$11.99) . These balms allow you to add highlights, mattify or add a sun-kissed glow to skin. The most versatile is the truMAGIC Skin Perfector. You can use it during the day for a quick powderless touchup, as it creates a soft, matte finish.

My favorite is the truMAGIC Luminizer, which can be easily applied with fingertips (or a sponge applicator if you prefer). I like to apply to the top of cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, chin and browbones. The effect is subtle, believable, luminous glow. Everyone can use this product! I also like the truMAGIC Sun Kisser, which I’ll be using all summer for sure. I love a sun-kissed glow and this will look very natural once I have a little summer color.

Overall, I really like the new COVERGIRL truBLEND and truMAGIC Collections. You can find these products in drug, discount and mass-market retailers and online at www.covergirl.com. Have you tried anything in these collections yet? Let me know!
