The star of this collection is undoubtedly the Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye & Cheek Palette. From the gorgeous packaging (which features a snake with jeweled-eye!) to the complementary colors inside, I was beyond impressed with this palette. The eyeshadow has excellent pigmentation, with a silky feel to it. Application was easy, even without a primer. And the shades–from the mauve to plum shades…seriously beautiful. Also included is a guide to help you with suggested looks. I’m usually not a fan of “all in one” palettes, because undoubtedly there are shades you don’t use, but not in this case.

The face products, which include Park Avenue Princess™ Bronzer, a blush and highlighter also wear well and are infused with colored clay, meaning that there is true color payoff. Of the three face products, the blush in Unleashed is my favorite. The color is universally flattering and lasts all day.

The other products I tried were the Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer, Colored Clay CC Eye Primer Stick and Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector. The Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer comes in a jar, which is different than most other primers I use. I like the formula, which contains Vitamins C, E and Green Bean Extract, which helps to minimize the appearance of pores, firms and smooths skin. It leaves skin with a “soft-focus” look before makeup; very nice.

The Colored Clay CC Eye Primer Stick is a neutral shade; when applied this eye primer holds product for a crease-free, all-day wear. The color-correcting pigments make for a universal shade and works well if you have dark eyelids.

The Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector comes in two shades; I tried Light-Medium.  Since it’s a solid product, I found it easiest to apply with a concealer brush. It blends into the delicate undereye skin and effectively camouflages dark circles. I liked that it didn’t dry out the undereye area or accentuate fine lines.

The Tarte Cosmetics limited-edition Rainforest After Dark Collection for Falls on sale now in department stores, including Sephora and at tartecosmetics.com. Overall, an exceptional collection…don’t miss that palette!
