NARS Smokey Eye Kit

When I think of NARS, there are two things that immediately come to mind: bold lips and smokey eyes. I’ve watched in awe at Fashion Week, where NARS makeup artists create the most stunning smokey eyes. I was thrilled to see the ‘NARSissist’ Smokey Eye Kit…it’s everything we need to get a smoldering smokey eye for Fall.

The NARS ‘NARSissist’ Smokey Eye Kit includes three eye shadows: Madrague (left, matte cream shade), Bali (center, matte), Mekong (right, shimmer), a mini Via Veneto Larger Than Life® Eyeliner and a newly designed travel size Wide Contour Brush #43.

There are so many ways to achieve a smokey eye look, but my usual method is to apply NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base first. If you don’t own this primer (one of my favorite primers), do yourself a favor and pick one up. It’s fantastic!

For a “classic” smokey eye, apply the darkest shade of eyeshadow on the bottom third of the eye first. Load your Eyeshadow Brush with Mekong (the shade on the right) to the entire eyelid. Blend with a Blender Brush. Next, using the Wide Contour Brush #43 from the kit, apply Bali eyeshadow (the middle shade) in the contour of eye and blend in and out to the edge of the eye. Next, apply Madrague (shade on the left) as a highlight under the eyebrow and in the inner corner of eye. This shade can also be used as an eyeshadow base color.

Once eyeshadow is applied and blended in, line eyes with the Via Veneto Larger Than Life® Eyeliner. I like to use a Smudge Brush to intensify the smokey look. Finish with mascara. Remember to go easy on cheek color. When I do a dramatic smokey eye, I also like a neutral lip, so as not to compete with the eye look.

I absolutely adore the NARSissist Smokey Eye Kit and would recommend it if you have a hard time choosing the right colors for a smokey eye, if you love NARS eyeshadows (some of the best) or…this also makes an excellent gift. You can find the NARS NARSissist Smokey Eye Kit ($59) at department and specialty stores, including Nordstrom and at NARScosmetics.com.  My take? You need this one!
