Fall Hair Trend Update

It’s that time of year where it’s time to start transitioning our clothes, hair and makeup for Fall. Richer colors in fashion mirror the richer chocolates, deeper reds and gold shades that we see in hair color for Fall. Here are some of the key trends and products to help get the look.

Fall Hair Trends_2014_A+O_TRESemme

The runway always provides inspiration for hair trends and at the alice + olivia Autumn/Winter Collection show, TRESemmé Global Stylist, Matthew Curtis complemented the collection with voluminous brushed-out and backcombed curls. To get the look, part hair in the middle, then using a one-inch curling iron, curl the hair horizontally. Next, pin each curl with pin curl clips and allow hair to cool. Once cooled, remove the pins one by one and use a soft-bristle brush to gently backcomb each curl. Spray roots with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray and tease into place. To finish, smooth out the part to create a strong graphic finish. Set the look with a blast of TRESemmé TRES Two Freeze Hold Hairspray.

Sundowner effect-Nelson Chan

For Fall color, Celebrity hairstylist and style upstart Nelson Chan has embraced the “Sundowner” look, which is a variation on the popular ombre technique. This new, subtler effect is intended to suggest “the lengthening of shadows as the summer days get shorter and evening falls earlier and earlier. Lowlights are tumbled in underlayers and roots, while the top notes of the hair still glow with warm solar chords”. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Shampooing Sublime Mèches

I’ve really been making an effort to switch to sulphate-free shampoos for maintenance of my color-treated hair and one that I’ve been using and love is Leonor Greyl Shampooing Sublime Mèches. Rich in sea kale, gluten-free quinoa protein, and amaranth, this shampoo was specifically designed for keeping highlighted hair in top condition. It is free of SLS (sodium laurel sulphate), silicone, gluten, parabens, and safe and highly recommended for anyone that has had a straightening treatment. My hair has never looked healthier!

AG Hair Smoothing Balm

Smooth hair continues to be a strong look for Fall. For styling, I’ve been using AG Hair Smoothing Balm. This non-greasy smoothing product is infused with 90% natural ingredients including three essential oils sourced from Africa: organic Argan, Marula and Mongongo. I like that Smoothing Balm is water-based, meaning it’s lightweight and instantly infuses hair with moisture, yet it fights against frizz and humidity, blends effortlessly, can be used to smooth flyaways and improve manageability.

AERIN Beach Cream

Loose, beachy, undone waves continue to be a trend. It’s a look that’s so sexy and beautiful. AERIN Beach Cream can be used as a leave-in deep-conditioning treatment for hair. Apply a quarter-size amount to wet hair and either relax in the sun or leave on in the shower for 5-10 minutes before rinsing out. I love that there is a subtle shimmer to it and the floral scent is divine. More good news…you can use this multi-tasking cream on body, too!
