Pampering Face Masks

I admit it…I love the thought of stealing a few minutes to pamper myself. And with time at a premium, one of the easiest ways to do that is with a face mask. A face mask is a quick, easy and targeted skin treatment with multiple benefits for your skin. And bonus: a little “me” time!

Face Masks

One of the immediate benefits of using a face mask is hydration; the concentrated formula seeps into the skin to thoroughly moisturize. Another is increased luminosity–ever notice how your face glows after a mask?  Most face masks are best used once a week, but it really depends on your skin type. My latest face mask finds include:

dr. brandt oxygen facial

For an immediate skin fix, my go-to is the dr. brandt® skincare oxygen facial flash recovery mask. This mask works almost instantly to oxygenate, purify, and hydrate skin for a fresh, luminous glow. While most of the time I like to do a mask at night, this one I like to do in the morning! Apply the oxygen facial flash recovery mask to clean, damp skin; you leave it on for approximately 3-5 minutes. In that time, the mask will foam and your face will tingle (in a good way) and when you rinse it off, you won’t believe how fab you look! Available at Sephora and,$69.

Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask

Another fast track to a healthy glow is Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Rose Clay Mask. This is a new 2-in-1 purifying mask that also exfoliates. The lightly-scented rose mask has a blend of actives in it to clarify, refine and exfoliate skin. When you rinse off, all you see is healthy glowing skin! Because of it’s exfoliating nature, I would stick to using this mask weekly. Available at Sephora and, $25.

Fresh Rose Face Mask

Another rose-scented skin mask that is uber-effective is the Fresh Rose Face Mask. First, I love the special edition packaging to commemorate the 15th anniversary of this mask. If it’s been around that long and is considered a cult-favorite, you know it’s good! The Rose Face Mask is a gel that is infused with real rose petals. The formula also includes rosewater for soothing and toning, cucumber extract and aloe vera gel for calming. Skin feel so soft after using! Good for all skin types, $62 at Sephora and Nordstrom.

L'Occitane Divine Mask

From L’Occitane, the Divine Cream Mask is a nourishing and rich mask especially good for dehydrated, dry, very dry and mature skins. This cream-based mask has Immortelle essential oil as it’s key ingredient; known for helping with elasticity, luminosity and firmness. It also contains shea butter–one of my favorite hydrators. The Divine Cream Mask comes with it’s own 24K gold-plated massage applicator, which helps to massage the product into the skin and boost circulation. You can use The Divine Cream Mask twice weekly, but if you need a really rich moisturizer, I’d use it that way, too. Available at L’OCCITANE boutiques nationwide and online at, $145.

Kate Somerville Age Arrest Mask

The Kate Somerville Age Arrest range now includes a Hydrating Firming Mask. This makes me happy, because I’m a big fan of the Age Arrest Cream (review) and Eye Cream (review). The Age Arrest Hydrating Firming Mask is a rich moisturizing treatment that can be used up to several times per week. You apply to clean skin, then tissue off after 5-10 minutes. If you really want the benefit of an ultra moisturizing treatment, leave it on overnight. The advanced formula contains peptides, Water Lily Extract, Hyaluronic Acid and so much more to help firm skin and improve elasticity, making it an ideal mask for mature skins. Definitely one of my favorites, you can find the Kate Somerville Hydrating Firming Mask ($75) at Sephora, Nordstrom and

Tammy Fender Restorative Radiance Masque

When you use a Tammy Fender product, you are getting custom blended, energetically balanced organic actives that are based on the healing traditions of holistic medicine. The Restorative Radiance Masque | Formula No. M-541 stimulates cellular regeneration and revives skin’s luminosity. Among the many flowers used in this hydrating masque are Lotus, Baobob and White Hibiscus; the combination works to restore skin’s luminosity and radiance, while moisturizing and detoxifying skin. Since my skin has been looking dull lately, it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! The Restorative Radiance Masque can be used several times per week to keep skin in top condition. Good for all skin types, especially dry, dehydrated, sensitive, sun-damaged, hormonally imbalanced and mature skins. Available at, $235.

Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Mask

If you have a specific skin type, like Dry Combination to Oily skin, a mask can be harder to find. Clinique’s Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask ($25) is just for you. Mineral Clay and Charocal powder help to draw out skin impurities and pore-cloggers, dead skin cells and environmental pollutants to help keep skin clean and clear. I like that there is also Algae extract to control excess oil, and hyaluronic acid to help keep skin supple. Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask can be used once or twice weekly, all over your face or just on oily t-zones for a more targeted treatment. Find it in department stores including Nordstrom, Sephora and at

Fleurs Creamy Moisturizing Mask

If you’re a spa-lover like I am, you’ll flip for Fleur’s Creamy Moisturizing Mask with Floral Bouquet. This rich, creamy mask is gentle and indulgent. Picture enveloping your skin in a beautiful bouquet of flowers…White Orchid Extract softens and moisturizes skin, Mourera Fluviatilis Extract (an aquatic plant), improves the skin’s ability to retain moisture and White Lily Extract moisturizes and revitalizes skin. The floral antioxidants also help brightens skin. You can use Fleur’s Creamy Moisturizing Mask ($40) once or twice weekly; find it in spas and at

Guerlain Super Aqua Face Mask

My latest mask obsession is the Guerlain Super Aqua-Mask Intensive Mask. It’s a cloth sheet mask that gives maximum hydration. Each mask contains as many essential ingredients as in a 30 ml bottle of Super Aqua Serum! Formulated with the Desert Rose Flower Complex, you can expect intense hydration and restoration. Because the masks are so saturated, you can apply the excess to neck, decollete and backs of hands. One note…although I love the scent, if you’re sensitive to fragrances, then unfortunately this one isn’t for you. Guerlain Super Aqua-Mask ($127/6), along with the Super Aqua Anti-Puffiness Smoothing Eye Patches ($127/6) are my new obsession for post-flight relief. Available in department stores including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Saks.

Do you use a face mask to get your skin glowing? Which one do you use? Let me know so that I can try it, too!
