MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Foundation

Are you always on the lookout for a good foundation? Foundation is such an essential part of a makeup routine. For a product that can do so much for us, it’s often the hardest to find beauty nirvana. MAKE UP FOR EVER has recently introduced Ultra HD Liquid Foundation to help us achieve a flawless base look.

As the first brand to create HD makeup, MAKE UP FOR EVER understands the unforgiving demands of cameras and screens…and now the selfie generation. It’s true: with millions of us taking selfies daily, our makeup is under more scrutiny than ever. MAKE UP FOR EVER has developed 4K technology for the next generation of digital devices…showing unbelievable detail, clarity and heightened color compared to existing HD technology.

I’m generally a little skeptical when it comes to foundations and I’ve tried many that just don’t cut it. But I really like Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. I am a light-to-medium skintone (NC25) and the 120 = Y245 Soft Sand shade (in the middle, below) is perfect. Half the battle of finding a good foundation is getting the right shade; there are 40 shades of Ultra HD Foundation available. In terms of application, I used a foundation brush to apply. Although two pumps is recommended, I found that to be way more that I needed. I used a buffing brush to apply, giving me the most airbrushed look.

MUFE Ultra HD Foundation and Step 1 primers

I consider Ultra HD Foundation a medium, buildable coverage foundation. It has a very lightweight feel on the skin, which I love. Overall, I think this foundation is best for normal, normal to slightly oily, normal to slightly dry or combination complexions. The formula is oil-free, and also has hyaluronic acid in it for hydration. True oily skins may have a difficult time with this foundation, unless using a mattifying primer.

Which brings me to talking about primers. I always use a primer; a primer will prep the skin, extend the wear and help give you the best overall results with your foundation. In testing the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation, I used the MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 primer ($36). There are ten Step 1 primers available, that target and perfect all skin types, tones and textures. You can mix and match to correct your specific skincare concern.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Foundation ($43) is available at Sephora and There is also an Ultra HD Stick Foundation available. If you used the previous MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Foundation, I think you’ll love the new formula. If not, it’s definitely worth a try!
