PMD Personal Microderm

There are many ways to restore a healthy glow to skin…you can fake it with makeup, use varying types of skin care, a variety of peels or lasers…and microdermabrasion. I’ve been using the PMD Personal Microderm, an at-home microdermabrasion system, to reveal fresh and radiant skin.

Microdermabrasion has been a popular in-office anti-aging procedure for years. The microdermabrasion process removes dead skin cells on the surface of the skin; the disruption stimulates collagen production, improves tone and texture and improves skin damage from sun, blemishes and dark spots. It also helps to increase the effectiveness of the skin care products you’re using (up to 20X deeper!). For me, the biggest advantage to using the PMD Personal Microderm is the convenience of being able to do treatments at home and on my schedule.

The PMD Personal Microderm kit that I received includes the handheld PMD device, charger, a variety of treatment discs, a DVD and booklet that explains and shows you how to use the device. It’s important to watch the DVD and read all instructions before using the PMD Personal Microderm for the first time. There are a list of Do’s and Don’ts in the booklet, including making sure to do a skin test before you start using the PMD Personal Microderm.

After familiarizing myself with the Do’s and Don’ts and watching the video to make sure I understood the gliding technique, I did my first treatment. I used the White Training Disc. I was worried that it might hurt, but it didn’t at all. After practicing with the White Disc and not experiencing any irritation or reaction, I moved up to the Blue Disc. One thing I didn’t expect was the feeling like you’re “vacuuming” your skin!

When using any type of aesthetic device, I always feel “slow and steady” is the way to go. You treat your face with the PMD Microderm on a weekly basis; so I did two weeks of the Blue Disc and then moved onto the Green Disc, which is a medium strength abrasion. In addition, there are Red and Black Discs that give maximum strength abrasion; those are used on hands and feet.

In the weeks that I’ve been using the PMD Personal Microderm, I’ve noticed softer, smoother and more radiant skin. And I’m pleased that the process only takes about five minutes. When the treatment is done, you simply wash your face, use a calming toner and then a good moisturizer (note PMD has their own brand of Toner and Moisturizer available). Treatments are done on a weekly basis.

The PMD Personal Microderm  ($159) can be purchased at; use code beauty411 when you order and save 15%! Is this something you’d try in your anti-aging regimen?
