Dior State of Gold_beauty

Gold has long been a signature color for the House of Dior. In haute couture, gold has often been used, either as an adornment or to balance other bold colors. Now, Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior makeup, uses his vision to create a limited edition color collection for holiday.

The Dior State of Gold Holiday Collection includes:

Dior State of Gold 5 Couleur Eyeshadow Palettes

Dior 5 Couleurs Palette in Blazing Gold and Eternal Gold, $63

Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow - Blazing

Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in #631 Blazing, $31

Dior State of Gold Diorific Lipsticks

Dior State of Gold Vernis

There are definitely some standouts in the State of Gold Collection. I love the Illuminating Pressed Powder, but I wish it were more widely available; I like to see a product like that in person before purchasing. I also love the Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Blazing and the Addict Gloss in Sparkle. If I had to recommend a purchase, I would get those two products, plus the State of Gold Vernis. Gorgeous! That said, I still feel like I’m waiting for Peter Philips to hit his stride at Dior. I miss the really daring colors that he used to do at Chanel, and haven’t seen that innovation from him yet. Sigh.

The Limited-Edition Dior State of Gold Holiday 2015 Collection is available now in department stores including Nordstrom and Dior.com. Do you see any pieces that you can’t resist? Let me know!
