Have you heard of Honest Beauty™  yet? It’s a new cosmetics line from Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company. I’ve often been curious about The Honest Company, however I’ve never tried any of the products. Although many people are into ‘natural’ this or that, it’s generally not my thing. But makeup? Oh, geez…now you’ve got me!

I was sent a variety of Honest Beauty™ cosmetics and makeup and to be 100% ‘honest’, I loved almost everything. The packaging is gorgeous; that’s always a big deal with me. But beyond that, the products inside are not only chic, they’re of good quality and are well-thought out. In addition to color cosmetics (makeup), there are skincare products, too. In total, the Honest Beauty™ line is extensive, having 17 skincare and 66 makeup products.

My favorite product is the Luminizing Powder; it’s as gorgeous as any luminizing powder that I’ve paid at least twice for. The compact is large, magnetic and mirrored. The Luminizing Powder in Midnight Reflection that I tried could be worn day or night, and gives a beautiful glow (no sparkles).

I’m also a fan of the Eyeshadow Trio (there are 6 shade options available), which comes in a compact with a mirror and a clever slot with a slideout tip sheet that shows you wear to apply the eyeshadow. In wearing the Truly Vibrant Ocean Blue eyeshadow, it has a nice, almost creamy consistency with very good color payoff.

Other color cosmetics I tried included Kind Kiss Lip Gloss, Truly Kissable Lip Crayon, True Velvet Eyeliner and Truly Thrilling Creme Blush. I found the pigmentation good in each, and especially love the Creme Blush. There are two must-have products for me; one is the Magic Balm. I love multi-tasking products like this; you can use the Magic Balm on lips, cuticles or even as a quick fix for flyaways. The second is the True Velvet Eyeliner in Eye Opener. It’s a flesh-toned eyeliner that, when put on your waterline, really opens up the eyes. It’s much more natural than a white one, which you often see recommended.

Where I didn’t feel the love was for the “tinted” products. Although I appreciate sun protection in the Beyond Protected Daily Beauty Fluid (Sheer Tint) SPF 30 and the Everything Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20, the amount of Zinc Oxide in each product made the formula thick and generally hard to work with.  I did, however, like the Everything Primer Luminous Base, which gives a luminous, slightly golden base.

Honest Beauty™ products feature many naturally derived botanical ingredients. Each product carries with it the “Honestly Free Guarantee,” which means that it is made without many ingredients of questionable health and safety standards. On the website you can see all ingredients in the formulas and the labelling on each product is clear and concise. If you’re interested in trying Honest Beauty™, you can find the entire collection online at honestbeauty.com. Overall, I think it’s a good, reasonably priced line and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
