A key beauty trend at the past two New York Fashion Weeks has been fresh, glowing skin with minimal makeup. To help us achieve that look, Kiehl’s has just introduced the Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate; a gentle but effective daily overnight peel treatment.
I’m always looking for a good exfoliating product/peel, so I was anxious to try the new Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate. The formula includes quinoa husk extract, fruit acids, cactus extract and phytic acid. It’s strong enough to be effective, yet is gentle enough for daily use. In one of the clinical trials that Kiehl’s conducted, the study demonstrated that the Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate formula worked equally well or better than a 20% Glycolic Peel without irritation (20% is the highest at home/esthetician level; a professional level generally starts at 30%).
I have been using the Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate with good results. It’s easy to use…apply after cleansing (and toner, if you use one) and before your serum and/or moisturizer. In the week that I’ve been using it, I haven’t experienced any irritation, redness or sensitivity. I like the idea of a nightly peel/exfoliating treatment for improved skin tone and texture, plus softer, more radiant skin.
Whenever you use a product like a peel, even as gentle as this one is, because of the accelerated skin cell turnover, you should be diligent about using a sunscreen. One of my favorites is Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50+ (more info).
Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate ($54) is available now in department stores including Nordstrom, and at Kiehls.com. If you’re looking to jumpstart your skin, this is a product worth checking out!
