The search for the perfect foundation can seem like an endless task. That’s why I like to try as many as I can…there are so many new formulas out now, it can get confusing. I’ve been using new Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation and Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer, and have been really impressed!
My personal preference in a foundation is a formula that feels good on the skin, gives a flawless finish and has a wide range of shades. Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Foundation is made to be long-lasting. While I’ve tried Smashbox BB Creams before, I’ve never tried a foundation, so I was interested in how Studio Skin 15 Hour Foundation would wear.
I always use a primer with foundation, so I used the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil, which I really like. The Primer Oil is super light on the skin, and is great for hydrating skin. I let it completely absorb in before applying the Studio Skin 15 Hour Foundation.
I really like Studio Skin 15 Hour Foundation, and honestly, this is a foundation I could see myself using on a regular basis. It feels great on the skin, blends well and lasts all day. Although this is an oil-free formula, it’s hydrating, and gives a demi-matte finish. I also like that it’s sweat, humidity and exercise resistant. I tried it under all of those circumstances and was pleased with the wear. And very importantly, the color stayed true without oxidizing.
Studio Skin 15 Hour Foundation has a medium coverage that you can easily build to full if you need it. This foundation is very pigmented, so you don’t need a lot. Studio Skin Foundation definitely passes the “second skin” test; it feels good on. There are 22 shades available; I found 2.4 Neutral Beige to be a good match.
I also was able to try the new Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer, although I’m not sure who would need 24 hour wear! This concealer is really pigmented, but I didn’t experience any creasing or caking. I found it to have very good coverage. There are light-diffusing spheres in the formula to help blur imperfections.
Like Studio Skin Foundation, the Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer is oil-free, and waterproof, resistant to sweat, exercise and humidity. It’s long-wearing and can be used anywhere you need to cover imperfections. Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer is available in a range of 10 shades; I tested the Light/Warm.
You can find new Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Foundation ($42) and Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer ($25) are available at Nordstrom, Sephora, ULTA Beauty and at Smashbox.com. If you’ve tried either, what was your experience?
