Holiday Party Makeup-Beauty Essentials

Let the holiday party season begin; it’s time to break out the sparkle! While the fall beauty trend has been largely matte makeup, this is the season to grab the glitter (with a bit of restraint, of course). Need some inspiration? Try these top 10 holiday party makeup and beauty essentials!

Foundation: Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Longwear Cushion Foundation SPF 50 is the perfect  base. It has full coverage, is oil-free, looks and feels natural. I’m obsessed with cushion compact foundations, and this new one from Lancome is another winner.

Primer: I bought one of the Burberry Beauty Boxes (review), which included the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Primer. It’s very lightweight and gives skin a luminous, dewy glow. It’s a lovely prep.

Highlighter: There are so many good ones out now, but I’m obsessed with M∙A∙C ‘s Extra Dimension Skinfinish (review). The Beaming Blush shade will add a hint of color in place of blush, balancing out a glittery eye and bold lip.

A red lip is a must for a holiday party and leave it to NARS to come up with the perfect shade. The new NARS Audacious Lipstick in Rita is fabulous for the holidays. The Audacious formulas have excellent pigmentation, are long-wearing and ‘Rita’ looks so festive. If you prefer a liquid formula try Giorgio Armani Beauty Lip Magnet Liquid Lipstick in 400. The formula and coverage is amazing and it’s a true red. If you want to go non-traditional, try one of the new holographic lip glosses!

Glitter: To add a bit of sparkle to your eyes, Urban Decay is out with new Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow. This eyeshadow has goes on creamy and dries to an iridescent finish. It’s long-lasting and beautiful. Must try! With these eyeshadows, you can add eyeliner or not, depending on how much emphasis you want on the eye.

Lashes: For maximum impact, add some of the new Urban Lash false lashes from Urban Decay; I love the Entrapment set [link]. Each set of lashes comes with a tube of glue and there are 12 styles to choose from. You’ll have that Kardashian look in a flash!

Setting Powder: Don’t forget to set your makeup for the evening. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (review) is my setting powder of preference, but you can find additional options here. For photos, you may want to consider an HD powder.

Nails: It’s the details that count, right down to your nails. Essie’s Getting Groovy from the new Winter Collection adds the perfect gilded touch to nails. Or use it as an accent; you can find plenty of holiday nail inspiration on Pinterest!

Hair: Regardless of your hair style, you want it to last throughout the evening. Nexxus Comb Thru Finishing Mist gives a touchable, frizz-free, natural-looking hold.

Fragrance: Adding fragrance is an important aspect of any holiday party preparation. For a truly special experience, try Angel Etoile des Reves. More delicate than the original Angel, this sexy scent has notes of bergamot, praline, patchouli, vanilla and musk. Did I mention sexy? The bottle is totally stunning, as well.
