One of my favorite things in the beauty world are makeup brushes. For today’s Makeup Wars, we’re talking about our must-have makeup brushes. For me, it really comes down to two brands: Anastasia Beverly Hills and IT Cosmetics.

Over the years, I’ve amassed a huge collection of makeup brushes. I’ve already covered my Top 10 Favorite Makeup Brushes and Everyday Essentials: Favorite Makeup Brushes, many of which I still use, like the MAC 187 and 217. If you’re just starting out, a starter set (try the EcoTools Modern Romance Collection) is nice. Most makeup brands have brushes and tools in the line.

I’ve recently been introduced to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Makeup Brushes (review). The collection is made up of 24 brushes for nearly every use, including of course, applying highlighters and eyebrow products. Within the collection, it’s the A23 Highlighter Brush (fourth from right, above) that I use the most. This brush picks up just the right amount of product, and most importantly, controls the diffusion of the product. Use this brush to pick up highlighter, then using downward strokes, apply above cheekbones and blend. All of the ABH brushes are exceptional quality, and I love how balanced they are in the hand. Highly recommend!

My other favorite brand of makeup brushes is IT Cosmetics. Not only do they make fantastic makeup and skincare products, but the brushes are amazing. Many times when IT Cosmetics introduces a new product or set, they will bundle a new brush with it, but you can also purchase sets of brushes or individual brushes. The day doesn’t go by that I am not using at least one, if not more, of these fantastic brushes. I love the Heavenly Luxe Flat Top Buffing Foundation Brush #6 (far left) and the Heavenly Luxe® Pointed Precision Complexion Brush (third from left). I use that brush daily for concealer blending underneath and in the inner corner of eyes. Worth every penny!

What are your favorite makeup brushes? I’d love to know! Check out the other posts in today’s Makeup Wars!
