As much as I mourn the loss of summer, I can tell from the changes in my skin that fall is just around the corner. That means it’s time to rotate skin care. Read on for some of the best fall face moisturizers that I’ve found.

Even though it’s not officially fall yet, my skin is signaling that it’s time for me to move to a moisturizer that’s a little more substantial. The humidity is dropping, meaning the air is drier and my skin is sitting up and taking notice. For normal, normal combination or dry skins, that might mean switching to a moisturizer with a creamier, richer consistency. Oily or acne-prone skins will want to stick with a lightweight texture that thoroughly moisturizes skin.

I’m loving the new Clinique Moisture Surge™ Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate. This water-gel hydrator works great at instantly quenching skin’s need for moisture. It also has encapsulated antioxidants, which help fight environmental aggressors (which can lead to premature aging). I like that this one is also fragrance-free. Absorbs quickly into the skin, doesn’t leave a residue and skin is thoroughly hydrated. Good for all skin types; normal-combination/oily skins will love this one.

Another light-textured moisturizer I love is Dior’s Hydra Life Fresh Hydration Sorbet Crème. This is a gel-creme moisturizer that is refreshing and hydrating. It plumps up skin, especially good before makeup application. When using this, I do feel my skin is completely and comfortably moisturized. Best for normal, combination and oily skins. There is a light, fresh fragrance that I really like. And of course, the aqua blue shade is gorgeously Dior.

If you have sensitive skin and/or redness, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness™ Skin Relief Treatment Moisturizer helps to calm, soothe and neutralize skin while transforming the appearance of redness. This is a super light cream that is infused with anti-aging, skin-soothing colloidal oatmeal, aloe, cucumber, chamomile extract, avocado, chrysin, turmeric, collagen and peptides.

Of all the moisturizers I’ve tried for this guide, I have to confess that my favorite is Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer. Having been an ExfoliKate fan forever, I could hardly contain my excitement that there was now a moisturizer. This moisturizer is designed to keep skin glowing with lactic and glycolic acids, pineapple, pumpkin, and papaya enzymes. If you have dull, dehydrated skin, or uneven skin texture, this moisturizer is a great choice. Even with the acids, ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer can be used am and pm; I haven’t experienced any sensitivity.

If you’re looking for the latest, cutting edge skin care, Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen™. Liquid Collagen™ is the first ever vegan, plant-based collagen formulation with 13,000 beads of microalgae oil. What this means for our skin is immediate hydration, restored radiance and soft, supple skin. It is recommended that you follow with a moisturizer, but at this point in the season, I haven’t needed it. The Liquid Collagen™ texture is light and jellylike, with a light, fresh scent. Can be used by all skin types.

If you’re in the market for a moisturizer that’s budget-friendly, cruelty-free and vegan, the e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer is one of my favorites. It’s a light lotion with a fresh scent that hydrates skin with an impressive formula that includes jojoba oil, shea butter, Vitamin E and other antioxidants. This is truly a year-round pick. I like the fact that it can be used by all skin types, comes in a tube with a pump, and it’s under $10. Even my husband uses this!

Like everything in the line that I’ve tried, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream, is a new favorite. This is a rich cream intended for daytime use, as it has SPF 15 and anti-UVA filters. I love using this before my makeup in the morning, because the blend of antioxidants, Hyaluronic Acid, rosehip and camellia oils and peptides, really plumps up skin and makes it glow. Charlotte’s Magic Cream feels like velvet on the skin and has a lovely rose scent. There is a Magic Night Cream available, too. Although good for all skin types, normal and dry skins will really love this moisturizer, especially as we transition to fall.
