This season’s opulent holiday collection from Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, conjures up bold jewel tones, prismatic sparkles, and multifaceted finishes. The Precious Rocks Holiday Collection, combined with the rock attitude of the Dior woman, is guaranteed to garner attention on the holiday party circuit.

The Holiday look includes eyes that reflect kaleidoscopic shades of ruby or emerald, and a strong lip in a captivating deep red, reminiscent of garnet. Cheeks are matte, with a cream-to-powder formula that offers the perfect fresh-from-the-cold flush. Highlights take on a soft, candlelit glow. Party-ready nails are easier than ever with this clear varnish strewn with gold, platinum, and silver sparkles.

I was gifted with a preview of the Dior Precious Rocks Collection and it’s stunning. The collection is luxe, with gold packaging and vibrant colors. The pieces I received include:

5 Couleurs Precious Rocks palette in 347 Emerald (beige, gold and iridescent emerald tones). I have quite a few Dior eyeshadow quints and the Precious Rocks Emerald palette absolutely glows! The pigments are silky and luminous.

Diorific Precious Rocks Golden Glow Loose Powder – Yes, you can use this as a finishing powder dabbed onto the areas of the face where you’d want to catch the light. But I would recommend lightly dusting the Golden Glow Loose Powder on shoulders and décolleté with the super-soft puff. It’s quite sparkly and glittery. Unless you’re comfortable with a very glitzy effect, for basic highlighting, I would rather use the Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Precious Rocks Shimmering Sculpting Powder Highlighter, as (in my opinion) it’s more subtle.

Diorific Khôl Powder Lipstick (limited-edition) and Diorific Matte Fluid Lip & Cheek Velvet Colour. I’ve never tried a Khôl Powder Lipstick before (I have tried khôl for eyes), so this was a new experience. The Diorific Khôl Powder Lipstick has a pointed tip for precise application and is highly pigmented. The formula is long-lasting with a matte finish. I like it! The Diorific Matte Fluid Lip & Cheek Velvet Colour is a liquid formula, nicely pigmented, that dries down quickly. Although I appreciate the multi-tasking nature, this would probably be a pass for me. I prefer using separate blush and lip colors.

Diorific Vernis in Ruby, Emerald, Grenat and Diorific Vernis Nail Liner in 001 Precious Rocks. The Diorific Vernis in this season’s jewel tones are beautiful. I’ve always liked the Dior Vernis formula…it’s smooth and wears well. These jewel-toned shades are perfect for holiday, with a touch of shimmer. The Nail Liner is a must-have for nail art!

The Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Precious Rocks Shimmering Sculpting Powder Highlighter is a gorgeous addition to your highlighter collection. The highlighting effect is shimmery, with plenty of sparkle, but not overpowering. The effect is very pretty, with good wear time (I would estimate about 6 hours without reapplication on me).

The Dior Precious Rocks Holiday Collection is available now in department stores, including Nordstrom (with some products available in Sephora), and at Dior.com. Are you tempted by anything in this holiday collection?
