Givenchy’s newest couture creation, Le Rouge Liquide, is full of contradictions. It feels like a lip balm, but has the intense color saturation of a lipstick. A velvet matte lipstick that doesn’t feel matte.

There were quite a few things that surprised me about Le Rouge Liquide. I had never seen a foam applicator like this on a lipstick. When you twist the case, the lipstick comes up through the foam sponge, so that you can deposit just the right amount of product on your lips.

The Le Rouge Liquide formula, created with hyaluronic-acid so that it hydrates and nourishes lips, is exceptional. It’s long-wearing, with only the very slightest hint of transfer. The color is intense, no matter what shade you pick. Although the formula is matte, Le Rouge Liquide is definitely not drying. Overall, this is a very enjoyable matte formula to wear.

I received eight of the fourteen available Le Rouge Liquide shades to preview: 100 – Nude Tweed, 101 – Nude Cashemire, 204 – Fuchsia Angora, 306 – Orange Plumetis, 308 – Rouge Mohair, 309 – L’Interdit, 411 – Framboise Charmeuse and 412 – Grenat Alpaga.

My favorite shade is Nude Cashemire, a pink-nude perfect for everyday. I love the black leather case, too. This is similar to the Le Rouge-À-Porter case (another Givenchy product I love!).

If you’re looking for a luxe liquid lipstick with a comfortable formula, I would definitely recommend checking out Givenchy Le Rouge Liquide; you can find the range at Sephora.
