Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Vixen – When I’m unsure if a color will work on me, whether foundation, eyeshadow or lipstick, I turn to the Bobbi Brown line. I trust that Bobbi Brown won’t do me wrong! Bobbi Brown Cosmetics just introduced a new collection of red lipsticks inspired by screen-siren lips and there’s a red for everyone!  I’m loving Vixen, a cool blue-red, limited-edition shade.  $25.

Dolce&Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Devil – When I think of a gorgeous red lip, I think of Scarlett Johannson, who is often seen wearing a red lipstick… she knows how to work it!  One classic red lipstick to try is Dolce&Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Devil, available at Saks Fifth Avenue, $30.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire and Ice – Isn’t the image of Jessica Biel in the new ad campaign for Revlon Fire and Ice stunning?  The Fire and Ice Collection has just re-launched with three new shades of lipstick (and matching nail polish!), just in time for the holidays.  The Fire and Ice shade of lipstick is also available in a limited-edition vintage case, $8.99 at drug and discount retailers or

YSL Rouge Pur Couture in #20 Rouge Flamme-  The look of N°20 is not for the faint at heart – it’s a cranberry-red shade with full coverage. This lipstick launched in October and in addition to the excellent pigmentation you’re used to in a YSL lipstick, the formula features a satin finish, SPF 15 and natural extracts to condition lips.  The  N°20 Rouge Flamme shade is exclusive to Gorgeous!

Makeup Tip:  Red lipstick looks best when your lips are in top condition.  Exfoliate lips first; you can use a product like Sara Happ Lip Scrub to banish flakiness and provide a smooth canvas.  A lip liner (I like a nude shade) will help to “grab” the color and give you extra-long wear.  Apply lipstick, blot with a tissue, then reapply.
