I had an interesting experience this week that I’m going to share in this week’s Nutrisystem Update. Every day while driving, I listen to Sirius Radio and on Monday, trainer Jillian Michaels from The Biggest Loser was a guest on the Rosie Radio Show. I don’t watch The Biggest Loser, because frankly, the training techniques scare me. But I digress; read on…
I was totally prepared to change the channel, until Jillian Michaels started talking. She started out by telling a story of a father and his son at the circus. The son sees a huge elephant chained to a post and asks the dad why doesn’t the elephant just break free from the chains? And the father answers that he could, but the elephant has been chained like that since he was small and too weak to break free and now he doesn’t know the difference.
WOW. That story really made me think of all the “chains” and self-destructive behaviors that prevent us from reaching our goals. As an emotional eater, I’m trying to find more positive ways of coping. Instead of mindlessly eating when I’m upset, I’m trying to deal with the issue without eating. I have to find a different coping mechanism, because eating isn’t going to solve the problem. In fact, it’s only added another one.
I will say that I’m hanging in there, although it’s a challenge. This week I lost another 2.5 pounds, bringing my total weight loss to 22.5 pounds since March 13th. If you would like to lose weight and eat healthier, visit Nutrisystem today or call 888-853-4689 for more information.
