For many people, taking an exercise class is just part of their everyday routine. My husband goes to the gym practically every day. Me? Not. On. Your. Life. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it–I do enjoy some forms of exercise. I love Jazzercise, but the nearest classes are 30 miles away from my house. I like to walk. But with my traveling schedule for work, fitting that in on a daily basis is tough. If I’m going to go to a gym and take an exercise class, I need to take baby steps.

The real reason I don’t like to go a gym to work out is because of body image issues and lack of self confidence. I get anxiety just thinking about it. So how did I get the courage to sign up for Zumba? Baby steps. I’ve heard so many people talking about what a good workout Zumba is and that it’s alot of fun. My real hope though, is that people in the class will be so busy trying to do the moves, that they won’t really be paying attention to me in the back row. Taking baby steps.

It’s not a huge comittment–only two classes a week. I know that more consistent exercise will help me to continue to lose weight and get healthier. And I hope that Zumba is something that I will like, so that I can commit to exercise long term. That has always been an issue for me and I’m determined that I will change that this time.
