I’m excited to share this week’s Nutrisystem Update with you, as the last couple of weeks I’ve felt like the scale has been “stuck”.  I’ve been SO sick of seeing the same number.  Finally, it’s moved!  Read on for more….

Of course, the week that I have my breakthrough would be Thanksgiving.  I’ve got a plan in place, though, so hopefully I can limit the damage.  Since I am having all of my family at my house, I’ll be cooking.  In addition to the traditional turkey-and-all-the-trimmings, I’m adding in a delicious chopped salad, plenty of vegetables and I’m even going to try sweet potato casserole.

One of the issues I struggle with–and one of the reasons I love being on Nutrisystem–is portion control. Nutrisystem has some tips for Thanksgiving portion sizes that I’d like to share. If you do plan to indulge in some of the traditional Thanksgiving favorites (let’s be honest…we will!), use these portions as a guideline:

  • Turkey—3 oz. white meat, no skin (about the size of a deck of cards)
  • Mashed potatoes—1/3 cup (about the size of half of a baseball)
  • Gravy—1 Tbsp. (just drizzle it)
  • Relish made with sugar—1 Tbsp.
  • Stuffing—2 Tbsp.
  • Dinner Roll—if not homemade, skip it
  • Pie—1/12 of a 9” pie
