For Spring 2012, YSL Creative Director of Makeup Lloyd Simmons used the inspiration of nature to create the Candy Face Collection that embodies style, real, modern glamour, harmony and a kind of daring to reach true beauty. Read on for more…

Simmons describes the look as “eyes with a captivating, smoky-fruity effect in blue mint, plum, licorice and pink, speckled with sugary sparkles, and lashes sheathed in inky blue. Cheekbones sculpted with carmine Voile de Blush blended on the upper cheekbones. A luscious smile, as shiny as tangerine syrup. On the nails, the fresh touch of a fruit sorbet.”

I look forward to every YSL Collection, knowing that the colors will be rich and vibrant, yet with a bit of an edge. The YSL blushes are always my go-to and for Spring, a new incarnation–the gel-blush in a tube–which I will definitely be ordering.  This collection, while dotted with some of the pastels in other Spring 2012 collections, also adds some bright to really pop the colors. It’s a modern interpretation that I love.

The YSL Spring 2012 Candy Face Collection includes:

The Vinyl Candy Palette

The star of the collection, this eye shadow was inspired by a box of candy overflowing with irresistible colors and textures. Violet and pink have perle texture, while blackcurrant and gooseberry are satin. The iconic YSL square compact is dressed for the season with a raspberry resin lid stamped with the signature gold logo, like an Yves Saint Laurent fashion accessory. $65.

Remember the candy dots on paper that you used to eat as a kid? These four captivating colors and finishes ranging from shimmer to sheen and metallic to matte—and one coordinating highlighter, take me back.  $56.

An ultra-light, tinted, water-based gel with a jelly texture, the VOILE DE BLUSH subtly highlights the cheeks with discreet color and sheer radiance.  In four shades, Carmine, Coral, Pink or Mauve, $30.

Inspired by candied fruits and flavored with the taste of fresh mangoes, shades include N° 7 Sweet Fig,  fleshy, carmine red; N° 8  Iced Plum, rich, frothy purple; N° 9  Cool Guava: daring pink and N° 10 Tangy Mandarine, radiant tangerine, $30

Shades include N° 113 Iridescent Burgundy, N° 114 Sparkling Fuchsia, N° 115 Shimmering Coral, N° 116 Milky Pink, $34

The new limitededition Manucure Couture duos in candy colored hues were created to perfectly complement the new Spring Look collection. In two mouth watering color combinations: bubble gum pink and tangerine orange, mint green and chocolately brown, $30.
