Even the most seasoned beauty addict has a hard time keeping up with the number of mascaras that are introduced. It’s makes it hard to know which ones to buy! Here are 8 of the best mascaras that I’ve tried recently and my thoughts on each.  Read on for more…

I’m not sure if there is another beauty product that we obsess over more than mascara. If you want to grab the attention at a girl’s night out, just announce that you’ve found the “perfect” mascara.

Dior Extase in Prun 871 is part of the Purple Revolution Collection and the only colored mascara in this roundup. I ordered this mascara as soon as I got my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale book. I’ve worn Dior Extase for years–it’s a perfect mascara. The formula is flawless, never clumps, it lengthens and thickens–all I needed to know is that it was in purple for Fall and I was on board. Nordstrom.com, $28.50.

Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara: It seems every mascara lately is making the “false eyelash” claim, but this mascara has a chimney-sweep-style full brush that coats every lash. Even with multiple coats, I didn’t have clumping or flaking. There is no fiber in the formula, so the lengthening effect is not as dramatic, but I was happy with the results. $24 at Sephora.com.

eyeko Curvy Brush Mascara: Great formula with a helix-designed brush. This mascara gives you the wide-eyed look and I had no issues with clumping. What I like about this formula is that it holds the curled lash without making your eyelashes dried out or brittle. I wasn’t able to master using the guitar-pick tool that comes with, but the mascara works fine without it. $19 at Sephora.com .

Show Off Mascara by Beauty Addicts has a curved brush, which really helps to lift the lashes and open the eye.  I wouldn’t say it thickens lashes, but gives a nice, clean look that would be great for wearing to work. The formula contains Argan Oil, so it’s conditioning, too. I received my Show Off Mascara in the latest Glossybox; it retails for $20. I’ve already reviewed the Glossybox sampling program here; you can sign up or get more information at glossybox.com.

L’Oreal Power Volume Collagen is a waterproof mascara with a very full “sweeper”-style brush, designed to really lift, separate and add volume to lashes. I’ve worn this mascara on the hottest days this summer without so much as a smudge. $7.95, 0.33 oz, at mass, food and drug retailers nationwide.

MAC Extended Play Lash has the smallest brush of the bunch, but don’t let that fool you. This formula can handle a full 16 hours of wear without smudging. It’s like body armor for your lashes! I love the dramatic lengthening that you get with this formula. The brush is superb–allowing you to get ever lash coated, no matter how small. $15, available at MAC counters and maccosmetics.com.

Orlane Volume Care Mascara has a luxurious formula that strengthens and conditions lashes to help boost growth. Oh and while it’s doing that, it has a fantastic brush that makes eyelashes look amazing. It’s a true “treatment” mascara. Love this one! $35, available at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.

IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara is my new favorite of all the ones I’ve recently tried. The multi-tasking brush has a sphere on the end reminiscent of Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes (which I LOVED), attached to a brush that separates, lengthens and curls. This mascara gives the best bang for the buck, because it also contains a lash growth enhancing serum and a lash tint for the blackest lashes possible. I’m obsessed. $24, available at QVC.com.
