Fall is typically the time that we start adjusting our makeup to reflect a more ‘finished’ look, moving from the sheer coverage of summer to more pigmented foundations. I’ve been researching and trying some of the season’s newest launches. Here’s the 411 on 7 foundations you should have on your radar. Read on..

L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift Repair Absolute Foundation ($14.95) is a lightweight, solid foundation that utilizes skincare technology to help achieve a flawless finish. It’s got Pro-Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C in it, so your skin holds in moisture and looks and feels great. This foundation provides buildable, all-day coverage and is available in drug, discount and grocery stores. I wear this foundation often and really love it.

Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup ($27) is a new option for those who have large pores and are looking for ways to conceal or minimize them. If you fall into that category, you know that finding the right foundation can be a problem, with some formulas clogging pores or stretching the pores, making them look even bigger.  I was sent a sample to try and the formula feels great on the skin and really covers flaws. Available at Clinique counters nationwide, including Nordstrom, Sephora and online at www.clinique.com.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra-Definition Liquid Makeup ($38): The name is a mouthful, but this foundation is definitely one that you’ll remember once you try it.  This is a foundation I would definitely buy for several reasons. First, I love the feel of it. It feels good going on and is truly weightless. Second, you get an “HD”-like medium to full coverage that makes your skin look flawless. Lastly, the state-of-the-art formula is infused with anti-wrinkle and lifting peptides, Green Tea and Vitamin E for smooth and supple skin. Available at Sephora, ULTA, and UrbanDecay.com.

Stila Stay All Day Foundation + Concealer ($44): If you’re a multitasker or frequent traveler, this might be just the foundation for you. This combo has the concealer built into the cover of the foundation. Not only that, but you won’t be wondering if you’ve chosen the right shade of concealer. The foundation offers a buildable coverage, is oil-free, available in 16 shades and also comes with a mirror, built-in spatula and mini brush. You can find this one at Sephora and www.stilacosmetics.com.

Diorskin Nude Fluid ($48) is the newest foundation from Dior. This foundation represents a new way of thinking about foundation: it’s formulated with translucent pigments that mimic the composition of the skin and offers a truer color. It’s also a very hydrating foundation. If you have dry skin, this is one to look for. Diorskin Nude contains mineralized and floral waters, lipids and minerals. It does feel good on the skin, I just wish there was a little more ‘slip’ to it. Available in 16 shades. You can find Diorskin Nude Fluid at Dior counters, Dior.com and Sephora.

YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat Illuminating Foundation ($55) is my favorite of all the new foundation releases that I’ve tested. It feel amazing–it glides onto skin and gives a luminous finish. I’ve been really impressed that even though this foundation has SPF 19, it doesn’t feel heavy or turn my skin greasy. As far as coverage, I’d judge this as a medium-coverage foundation. I would recommend getting color-matched before purchasing; there are 17 shades and even though there is a shadefinder on yslbeautyus.com, had I used that, I wouldn’t have selected the right shade.  At YSL counters including Nordstrom and Sephora.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Crème Compact SPF 20 ($45) : Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer is iconic and has millions of loyal fans. This new lightweight crème formula in a compact comes in 12 shades and gives skin a dewy, natural-looking flawless finish. It’s ideal for all skin types. Great for travel or even touching up through the day, the formula is weightless and provides a sheer coverage that is buildable. This is a long-wearing formula that doesn’t oxidize (turn color)–even in the heat.  I assumed I’d be the same shade for this formula as in the liquid, but that wasn’t the case, so double-check to be sure. Available in department stores including Nordstrom and Sephora.
