Most people either love or hate the colorful red bottle, but there’s no missing Dot by Marc Jacobs on department store fragrance counters. Crafted to look like a ladybug with a butterfly on the top, the bright red bottle is a tipoff to the juice inside: happy, playful and free-spirited. Read on for more…
I honestly can’t think of anyone who doesn’t like dots (can you?). In fashion, they’re a classic. And that was partly what inspired Marc Jacobs. Whether in sweaters, bangle bracelets or now fragrance, dots are a design element that Marc Jacobs has incorporated into his collections over and over.
Dot is considered a lush, juicy floral with top notes of red berries, dragonfruit and sweet honeysuckle. The heart of the fragrance is floral, with lush notes of jasmine, coconut water and orange blossom. And the base notes are decidedly feminine; creamy vanilla, driftwood and sensuous musks. I think it’s a great fragrance and definitely one I would buy.
In looking at the notes of the fragrance, you might worry that the fragrance would float away, but that’s not the case at all. I was pleased in wearing it, that the fragrance developed nicely–it’s pretty–and had good sillage.
Dot by Marc Jacobs comes in 3 sizes: a 1-oz. ($48), 1.7 oz. ($69) and 3.4 oz. ($89) and is available now in department stores including Nordstrom and Sephora. A Body Lotion ($45) and Shower Gel ($35) are also available. If you’re looking to add to your fragrance wardrobe, Dot by Marc Jacobs is a charming addition!
