One of the things I love about attending Fashion Week is that most of the major makeup lines use the shows as an opportunity to test out upcoming products or collections. At the Spring 2013 Derek Lam show, Tom Pecheaux showed off his latest effort as Creative Director at Estée Lauder. There were new Pure Color Stay-on Shadow Paints (stay tuned!) and a blush that I couldn’t wait to try. Beautiful colors that were both delicate and strong, naughty meets nice.

The Estée Lauder Pretty Naughty Spring 2013 Makeup Collection includes:

Pure Color Five Color EyeShadow Palette in Pretty Naughty, $48.

Pure Color Intense Kajal EyeLiner Duo in Black/Blue, $23

Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée Blush in Tease, $40

Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Insatiable, $20

I like that this isn’t your traditional spring makeup collection; it’s a little edgier, yet it all works. The colors in the Pretty Naughty eyeshadow palette can be worn individually or together and are really versatile. I liked putting pairing the purple shade with the pink and then mixing in a little of the charcoal shade for extra depth and definition. The new Pure Color Sheer Matte Lipsticks are the perfect combination of a lipstick and a pencil, giving sheer but pigmented coverage. I find I like adding a gloss over the top.

The Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée Blush in Tease is my favorite piece of the collection. The formula is a “tribrid” system of liquid, powder and gel (first used in the Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée Highlighter) that creates a soft and subtle shimmer on the skin. I like the “3-D effect” with the raised triangular pyramids on the blush surface. Coverage is excellent, giving a sheer, soft, very pretty blush wherever you apply it.

The Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Insatiable is a very saturated, dusty, purple shade. I checked and I really didn’t have another shade in my collection of purples that was similar. I like the fact that this color is more substantial than a pastel lilac. I love this formula and particularly the brush, which makes for effortless application. You can’t go wrong with this one!
