Since January is a time when we get the chance to “do over” everything…including our skin, why not start with the cornerstone of your skin care ritual, your cleanser. Here are four that I’ve been using and have found to be worthy of a try.  Read on for more…

From Pond’s, the Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser contains soft white Kaolin clay, which really helps to draw out impurities, leaving skin super clean and smooth. This is a very nice daily cleanser and can also be used more as a mask, if desired. If you’re sensitive to fragrance, although pleasant, this one is a bit strong. In drug and discount stores, suggested retail price $5.79.

Bioré® 4-in-1 Detoxifying Cleanser has quickly become a new favorite. It has the foam consistency that I love, plus it’s a true multi-tasker. This 4-in-1 cleanser effectively cleanses, tones, stimulates and detoxifies impurities to leave skin glowing. The formula is oil-free, too. Available in select food, drug and mass merchant stores, $7.49.

All-In-One Facial Cleanser with Toner from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare is a 3-in-1 multi-tasker that cleanses, tones and removes makeup. Containing natural Witch Hazel, Chamomile, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamins A, C and E, it restores, removes makeup and impurities without stripping, leaving skin fresh, clean and balanced. It’s unscented and gentle on skin, too. What makes this one different is you apply it with dry hands to a dry face and massage in before rinsing.

Visible Difference Skin Balancing Exfoliating Cleanser from Elizabeth Arden is tailor-made for combination skin. This is a lightly-scented, rich, cleanser out of the tube that quickly works into a foamy consistency. In addition to cleansing, there are tiny mictro-beads for exfoliating, so skin is clean and conditioned when you rinse. I would re-buy this cleanser in a minute. Skin feels totally clean and comfortable after use. $20 for a 4.2 oz. tube.

Ultimately, for me, the decision about which cleanser to pick often comes down to texture and how it makes my skin feel. I also like to rotate cleansers, so that my skin doesn’t get used to the same one. And you’ll notice not one bar of soap; I’ve never, ever, used a bar soap on my face. Do you have a favorite cleanser? Let me know in the comments!
