It’s the time of year that I get really restless and want to change up my hairstyle, experiment with new products—basically overhaul everything about my hair. Here are six of the latest hair and styling products that I’ve been impressed with! Read on for more…
Since the new L’Oreal Advanced Haircare line came out, I’ve been obsessed (see review here) with the products. The treatment sprays are fabulous. There are two that I alternate between and I can’t even pick which one I love more: Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray and the Total Repair 5 Multi Restorative Dry Oil. The Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray has UV filters and protects hair up to 450 degrees F. This is so important for those of us with color-treated hair. I usually use on dry hair on alternate days when I don’t shampoo. The Total Repair 5 Multi-Restorative Dry Oil is another amazing must-have product. This spray is applied to damp hair to seals split ends, adds shine, tames flyaways and frizzies without weighing hair down. Trust me—get them both.
Have you noticed I have a hair spray fixation? Honestly, there are so few hairsprays that pass my standards. I refuse to use one that is sticky, causes buildup or makes hair dull. Enter Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable Weightless Hairspray from Sexy Hair. This hairspray has soy, cocoa and Argan Oil in the formula for a medium hold that you can actually touch and anti-frizz technology to keep hair smooth in all climates. I really love this one! There is no product buildup and I will definitely be re-buying. $17.75.
I’ve been taking a trip down memory lane with the new Herbal Essences Smooth Collection. I used to buy the original Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner way back when. Now, the amazing botanical-floral fragranced hair products are back and better than ever. The Smooth Collection Shampoo and Conditioner work together to leave hair soft, shiny and manageable. $3.99 each for 12 oz Shampoo and Conditioner.
Another throwback to my youth is the launch of the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series. I remember I had truly thought I had “arrived” when I got my hair cut at the Vidal Sassoon Salon in Chicago. Forward, cutting-edge, innovative—this new line retains the ideals that Vidal Sassoon embodied back in the day. Stylish, low maintenance hair through use of performance driven products is the goal of Vidal Sassoon Pro Series. Based on hair care needs, the line offers five care and styling sub-collections, plus one styling and finishing collection. That enables you to pick the products suited to your needs. My favorite product is the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Color Gloss Creme, which is applied to damp hair before styling and protects color-treated hair from fading.
If you’re looking for an easier way to do a hair bun, Hot Buns is a new tool that can help. It’s so easy…just roll your hair, snap the ends and wrap up your bun! There are two sizes in each box; a larger one for long hair and a shorter one for medium-length hair. Even though my hair is shoulder length, it wasn’t long enough to roll into the bun using the smaller size. I think if you have long hair, this might be a good option. The Hot Buns tool is made of a velcro-like fabric and is available for light or dark hair. Available at WalMart.
Are you like me and run around with a black hair tie on your wrist? I do that so I don’t forget to have one on-hand for when I go to the gym. But it’s definitely not fashionable! With seven new hair tie collections released just in time for Spring, Kitsch’s Hair Ties are fun and fashionable. And they’re a lot cuter on your wrist than a boring black elastic. I love the Frosted Mini Sweets Collection for Spring or Golden Goddess for summer. You can see all the collections at www.MyKitsch.com.
