In the world of cosmetics, MAC is a juggernaut when it comes to bringing us pop-culture collections. Out now is the Archie’s Girls Collection. It’s girl-next-door blonde Betty vs. vivacious, spoiled rich-girl, brunette Veronica. Who’s team are you on?

I grew up reading Archie comic books and watching the cartoons, so ‘Archie’s Girls’ is a collection that I’ve been eagerly awaiting. It’s a huge initiative–two distinct collections.

The Betty Collection is pastel, light and so right for spring. Pinks and corals are the main colors, with pops of lavendar and mint. Highlights include:

The Caramel Sundae Eyeshadow X4, ($44) with shades of:

  • Caramel Sundae Mid-tone warm tan (satin)
  • Cheryl Chic Light coral pink (frost)
  • Dreammaker Pale frosty yellow (frost)
  • Showstopper Dark, cool-toned brown (matte)

Nail Lacquers ($17.50) in Pep Pep Pep (light peach nude) and Comic Cute (bright coral) are both great shades.  I applied two coats and feel like three would probably give better results.

Other favorites from “Betty” include the Lipglass ($16.50) in Summer Sweetheart (light peach), Stay Sweet (light lavender pink) and Kiss & Don’t Tell (bright coral).  The standout product for me is Pearlmatte Face Powder ($30) in Flatter Me (a golden peach base, Shell Pearl Beauty Powder with coral hearts in Foolish Me Powder Blush. The collection also includes lipsticks, pigments, Opulash, Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners and Blush (in Cream Soda).

The Veronica Collection is rich in violets, dark berry and navy crème shades. Of the two, I tend to be more Team Veronica. MAC does a great job with marrying these colors into a collection that is really pretty. This is more a fall/winter look, for sure.

My favorite piece of this collection is The Spoiled Rich Eye Shadow X4 ($44); shades include:

  • Spoiled Rich Rich purple (frost)
  • Ron Ron Run Deep navy (satin)
  • Pin-Up Purple Mid-tone orchid (frost)
  • Gravel Charcoal (matte)

The Spoiled Rich Eye Shadow X4 is one you want to pick up while it’s available. The eyeshadow colors are gorgeous and as I think about the recently completed Fashion Week, I’d say buy this one and put it away for Fall!

Nail Lacquers are available in two shades, Double Trouble (deep navy, swatched above) and Past Curfew (deep berry). Two coats was definitely adequate in these shades, although even with a good base coat, I had quite a bit of staining with Double Trouble. The Pearlmatte Face Powder is beautiful in the Veronica Collection with Veronica’s Blush (a silvery pink base) with deep pink hearts. I love everything in the Veronica Collection–these colors just speak to me.

In addition to the makeup, there are accessories/gifts in the Archie’s Girls Collection. The Brush Kit ($49.50) includes a special size of some of my favorite MAC brushes: the 266SE Small Angle Brush, 226SE Small Tapered Blending Brush, 242SE Shader Brush, 168SE Large Angle Contour Brush and 167SE Bronzer Brush in a metal tin with the Archie’s Girls logo on it. There are other products available including a Coin Purse, Tote Bag (online only), Makeup Mirror (online only) and  Makeup Bag.

The MAC ‘Archie’s Girls’ Collection is available at all MAC counters and online at Who’s team are you on?
